So shits getting fun up here. One, there was recently cases reported in the town I work in. Two, my work came from "Sanitize every register every hour" to "sanitize every register after every customer" in like a day. Next day we're sanitizing every cart we bring in, every time. Nobody knows what fucking social distancing is and my works busy every fucking day I work right now. Every day feels like a god damn weekend. My work isn't gonna shut until its forced to. But we are changing hours, but we're all going to work the same so anyone working past closing is probably gonna be disinfecting the shit out of everything. Though our hour cuts aren't as dramatic as Home Depot's.

Legitimately I'm feeling a lot more anxious now about the whole thing. Not because I'm really that worried about myself, more that I have a mom with possible vulnerabilities. I dunno, its wild. I really think my governor needs to make a "Shelter in place" rule up here. The US is heading towards the trajectory of Italy, and shits getting real bad t here.

San and I warned you all.

I don't think anyone was denying that, not to my knowledge. I'm well aware of the fact we could see at least 800,000 jobs lost for March; we had 70,000 jobless claims just this past week, the biggest jump in a while. I know several of my friends were told to fill out unemployment sheets so this is serious. Whether those jobs will remain temporary or more permanent, however, remains to be seen. For our sake, let's hope it's the former because it can be worst, and it's possible Jobless claims will spike to 3 million next week. Of course, if it's temporary, we're going to see some of the biggest growth in our history starting in the third quarter, that's if slowdown that was already occurring doesn't sink us further: oil is under $20 a barrel and corporate debt is at record highs.

How much do you wanna bet Trump will take claim for these biggest growths in our history?

China lied, intensely about the severity of the disease and the outbreak. Their numbers are are just factually incorrect. They tried to save face, and didn't report what is likely a truly massive uptick in non confirmed respiratory failures. Basically, people dying of severe pneumonia without being confirmed to have COVID were not included in their death tally.

The WHO covered for them, likely for political and financial reasons associated with China.

I am also concerned. My sister is a nurse in assisted living, my brother lives in Seattle and has asthma, and my dad lives in Vegas and has had some health issues. My other sister and my mother, thankfully, live in the middle of God damn nowhere, but there is a real possibility that a good chunk of my immediate family gets wiped out.

Oh yeah, and 4 bus drivers on the transit I've been taking more often lately tested positive for the virus, so that's great. They've now made bus fairs free, too. I've been taking the bus more lately because my dads working from home and usually before I would ride with him home on his way back from work, but now his work is at home for the foreseeable future.

They've made new bus rules, too. Apparently people are only allowed to exit out the back door now, one of the last times I was on the bus they announced a window was required to be open, CDC recommendations, etc. Shits wild.

Edit: There's a reason my dads picked me up the last couple of days.

All non-essential shops and the like are being closed down here in Australia, and the states are tightening up their borders to help prevent the spread. On the plus side, stuff like toilet paper is finally starting to re-appear in the shops.

Honestly kind of impressed by Scott Morrison's handling of this so far. It's a nice turnabout after the bushfire bungles he did.

It is rumoured that smokers are safer due to the virus not damaging tarcovered lungs any further.
But with all the fake information out there we will never know.

A smoker's lung is a poor one.Given that the virus attacks the lungs, I don't think it's much safer.

Coronavirus is a nice wake-up call to some of those whom were enjoying getting lots of cheap goods from China. Most of the sheep that make up society have long since grown fat and complacent, unwilling to truly face hardship or suffering. Those that now are discomforted by minor inconveniences have taken to bleating their discontent while others still try to understand if there is some danger about. Until we can build up domestic industry again in the United States, we're going to keep suffering from the decannual pestilence that leaks out of China.

That's another silver lining I can see from this virus, was that the experiment of trying to lift China up to first world status by offering them all our manufacturing jobs was ultimately robbing Peter to pay Paul.

It gave us cheap products, it made the investors happy, but with so many costs economically, professionally, environmentally, and even culturally as we ceded more and more power to China in the name of cheap goods.

China is far more capitalistic, libertarian, and American than the USA. Whereas the US wants a socialist like Bernie become POTUS, China exploits its billion-strong subjects in sweatshops that produce cheap shit by the tonne per minute. CoViD's threat to China's economy made me realize that.

and speaking of serious shit, here's some serious shit:

North Korea on Saturday welcomed what it said was a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, saying it was a sign of “the special and very firm personal relations” between the two leaders despite recent frictions.

A senior Trump administration official confirmed Trump sent the letter and said it was “consistent with his efforts to engage global leaders during the ongoing pandemic.”

The president looks forward to continued communications with Chairman Kim, the official said.

The last thing you want during a Pandemic is to be on the bad side of madman who probably has nuclear weapons and could level South Korea with conventional weapons.

This is 100% to try and appease North Korea and not make them trigger happy. Right now is not the the time to have any global tensions.

Also, in worrying news, China has reported 45 cases of imported coronivirus cases. Meaning that no, this is not containable. Which anybody with half a damn brain could realize months ago given how long the incubation period is. I am seriously livid with the WHO Chief who insisted it was for over a month, even though this sort of infection is practically impossible to contain if it is widespread.

That's why they elected the current Administration and why every major Democrat has flat out avoided endorsing Sanders like the gods-damned fucking plague. Don't blind yourself by believing that the Electoral College, a group made up almost entirely of those whom have enjoyed expressly non-Socialist policies being in place, to suddenly decide they'll support the election of a Socialist.

China exploits its billion-strong subjects in sweatshops that produce cheap shit by the tonne per minute. CoViD's threat to China's economy made me realize that.
The PRC has been exploiting its workers since the early days of its revolution by convincing them to do things that they fundamentally knew was wrong, but threatening the use of violence if they failed to comply. The simple fact that they kept doing it and were only benefiting from the West falsely believing the war against pro-Marxist ideologues ultimately has no take on the current conversation at large.

Seangoli wrote:The last thing you want during a Pandemic is to be on the bad side of madman who probably has nuclear weapons and could level South Korea with conventional weapons.

Definitely has nuclear weapons given that he's tested them, and has some regional delivery methods which he could use, but ultimately wouldn't. Additionally, the lie that he could make South Korea a parking lot is quite annoying. The North Korean military has slowly been falling apart for quite some time and they can't afford to place every last egg they have at the one point on the border that would afford them the chance to make a maybe successful strike on Seoul. Beforethe Norks could ever effectively set to levelling Seoul, several division's worth of conscripts and trained soldiers would flood their positions and overrun what likely is a highly unmotivated, likewise minimally trained force of forced laborers whom get fed relatively better than they did as peasants in the middle of nowhere.

This is 100% to try and appease North Korea and not make them trigger happy. Right now is not the the time to have any global tensions.

This would appear to be the case and is the right move for any major world leader. It is possible that the Norks would attempt some sort of acts of aggression right now if they felt threatened, but by directly reaching out to them, he has avoided any acts of potential aggression by insinuating to the larger world that they are indeed onboard with helping out against the pandemic. I'm personally interested to know, however, if the disease has potentially infected the North Korean government given there was a momentary incursion for a short time.

Also, in worrying news, China has reported 45 cases of imported coronivirus cases. Meaning that no, this is not containable. Which anybody with half a damn brain could realize months ago given how long the incubation period is. The WHO is a corrupt organization of supposed medical experts whom pander the highest bidder and have placed the Hypocritic Oath before their own Hippocratic Oath. Do no Harm? They've done maximum harm by insinuating that this pandemic was not a danger like others before it. It is not an organization to take seriously and I'm appalled any government has in the past. If you want something done right, you do it yourself, not through some roughshod NGO.
