Theatre is a problem, I'll grant you, but given we've had the theatre for thousands of years, a 12-18 month disruption in theatre activities isn't likely to end the theatre forever.

How would you change the model.

Sports are majorly funded by ticket sales. They get some money from the networks for allowing them broadcast rights, but not near enough to cover the costs of playing the game. With the loss of most of their ticket sales due to social distancing, they would need the networks to pick up the slack.

That filters down eventually to your cable bill, especially the sports packages.

And if you can't have an audience you can't have theatre, ballets or operas. It becomes pointless to play before a empty house and just stream it.

I'll take your word for it, but that has nothing to do with what I said. Try reading it again.

It doesn't have to be a role where they have to take care of people like a doctor.

Things like delivering supplies, delivering medication, minor jobs that can help the healthcare system deal with this without them being in a direct role.

Didn’t they make one kit that detects CoVID19 in 45 minutes?

15 minutes. But the machine can only handle 1 test at a time for the moment.

Maybe with more investigation we can get one that gives fast results like the influenza test. Which, in my experience getting tested, it gives results in 10 minutes.

If they are ok with strolling about during a time where people should be self isolated, do you really think they're above potentially sabotaging things like food and medicine? We got idiots going around licking and spitting in or on produce, im sure someone who is being forced to work at a place isn't going to be above purposefully infecting themselves and then trying to spread it out to all the staff, or patients.

Nobody does, but functionally speaking, it's what needs to happen.

without an audience theatre becomes pointless and unprofitable. Where is the money going to come from to sustain the production costs and keep the lights on?

Again, try reading it again.

A 12-18 month disruption is certainly financially painful, and will require some kind of a bailout, but ultimately, the theatre will start up again - either under the same ownership or new ownership. Theatre as a concept will not die because of a temporary disruption.
