How about no?

There’s a lot of other jobs in hospitals besides doctors and nurses you know.

Who do you think cleans and disinfects the rooms? Delivers meals? Checks in guests? Gives directions? Moves empty hospital beds around? Changes the sheets? Restrains uncooperative patients?

If I remember the article correctly, there's about half a million people who volunteered for the NHS in Britain, and their job is basically to deliver medication and check up on people. Stuff the common person could probably do with a bit of training/guidance, but frees up medical personnel to deal with Coronavirus instead. The people who end up forced to do essential work could do something similar to that.

I'll try to find the article.

EDIT: Here's an article on it.

Members of the public can sign up to help as a 'community response volunteer', which involves 'collecting shopping, medication or other essential supplies for someone who is self-isolating, and delivering these supplies to their home'.

Other roles will see people transporting patients, NHS supplies and equipment, or speaking to those at risk of loneliness on the phone.

Maybe not permanent but social distancing until there is a vaccine.

Ive heard some experts say we we will likely have no mass gatherings until there is a vaccine. That means you destroy theatre and other live productions, you ruin the hospitality industry and sports could likely never come back, and you shutter many small businesses.

Ebola, airborn or otherwise, would be far less dangerous, on a global scale. The quick onset and obvious symptoms would cause it to burn out much more quickly and with far fewer deaths.

How would you change the model. And if you can't have an audience you can't have theatre, ballets or operas. It becomes pointless to play before a empty house and just stream it.

Indeed. Instead of this worry of a vaccine; they should be working on a fast testing kit. If it can give a local result, then gathering type events and work can be done.
