Most of the media I've seen has been rather harsh on the PRC for causing the whole mess. As for how well they've handled the crisis, I'm not sure their numbers or claims can be trusted quite yet.

Like Nap and LRON said earlier in the thread, they made mistakes earlier in the thread, but by the time they realized what exactly they were dealing with, there was little they could do to stop its spread besides what they did. Regardless, the failures of the PRC do not excuse the failures of the Western governments to act when they had oftentimes up to a month or more of warning.

Nah, it doesn't excuse the failures of western governments, but I'd hardly hold up China as a shining example of what to do considering the likelihood of any good news coming from them about stopping the outbreak being a straight-up lie.

You do not seem to be aware of the massive efforts they are putting in including sending their expert doctors and equipment around the world to help people. Either way though even if you were right, and you aren't, it would still be more than what most of the worlds nations are doing for one another. Especially here in the EU where nations are literally stealing equipment headed for one another to the point where you can buy medical equipment and not know if it will be stolen by other EU members along the way. All the while the EU leadership is concerned with political mud slinging instead of helping their member nations.

At this point the EU establishment and member states have reacted so badly to all this that all that China needs to do to come out of this as the moral winner is just do no harm.

China has also sent tonnes of medical supplies to Croatia, other European countries and to the Pacific. They are receiving praise all over for it. Contrast that to the floundering and dithering you see coming out of the UK and the US. China has done a very good job at turning this virus into a positive for them.

This is a very badly written article, but the graph shows something I can't find a better source for. Research and development spending per country ... The USA dominates and China doesn't make the list.

I don't see why anyone would believe that. The Chinese government has literally nothing to gain from lying about a plague that if unchecked would only gut their own source of power and income. Western propagandists on the other hand have every reason to spread such stories to undermine China.
