My life is insane. My mom constantly keeps referring to that one song by Skid Row 18 and Life and saying "don't end up like that guy." Now, just to be clear, I don't partake in violent illegal activities and my weekend mainly consists of drinking fireball and smoking the finest indica in the state, but my mom doesn't trust my friend Xhuliano and worries that he's gonna rope me into some dumb shit. Never mind that I dont hang out with him often and it's usually me, Josh, and maybe Darr, Marco, Steven, Javon, Ronnie, Calvin, Tyler or Jayson. But Detroit was never a nice place to be, so I can't totally fault her for worrying.

Actually Detroit was a nice place, some 60 years ago. Before the late 60s Downtown Detroit was high end luxury, and it was a thriving an wealthy city, considered amongst the best in the country.
With a population of more than 1 and a half million.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan claim to still have new cases everyday and are taking tons of independent actions in order to combat it.

Now the question is, are Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan part of China, as China claims they are? Hm...

Well, first rule of thumb is don't believe anything coming out of China. That said they did take hugely drastic action and they've closed off their borders. Movement is still relatively restricted so I can imagine they're at least over this phase. Also, at least in HK, the majority of cases are from people returning from overseas as opposed to homegrown cases.

Having said that.. one thing that should come out of this all is for Taiwan to simply be recognised as an independent country and be granted admission into the WTO, the WHO - corrupt as they are - as well as any other relevant global body. Possibly the best and only way to hold China to any account is to globally recognise Taiwan, especially their efforts in containing the spread. I'd say the demand can be that either the CCP allows for free and open elections and information or Taiwan becomes independent. The two cannot co-exist in this state anymore.

As I note, HK, SG and Taiwan are proof that open societies that are predominately Chinese can be successful, there is simply no grounds for the CCP to exist frankly.

The fact that warehouse shipments of apparently thousands upon thousands of urns have been sighted in the Wuhan region makes me take China's official claims with a huge dose of carefully desinfected salt.

TIL the plasma industry is "essential." Back when I lived in America years ago I used to sell plasma. You get hooked up for an hour to a machine, they drain your blood, separate the plasma, and put the rest of your blood back. You could do it twice a week and make 40 bucks each individual round. I eventually stopped doing it because it was taking a toll on my immune system, I was getting colds all the time. I definitely wouldn't do it now with the immune system hit plus those places are sketchy as fuck.

Anyway though, I still get emails soliciting the return of old "donors" and today I got an email with a letter attached that one can print out and show to authorities if needed so they can go to the plasma center.

Good luck to anyone still donating plasma. These places tend to attract desperate people.

If you can’t trust chinas numbers, you can’t trust what methods they claim to be using either.

not necessarily the case, as the dog simply have had traces of this virus in its fur for being so long in contact with its infected owner and so tested positive for it instead of being truly infected

I really hope people don’t use this information to start culling their pets, that would be horrible.

I think most people who want rid of their pets can't actually bring themselves to kill the animal. And a vet won't do it for them.

So they abandon the animal at a shelter (which would be bad in this case, shelters would be overwhelmed) or just abandon them on the street where they're likely taken to a shelter.

All pretty bad options, and I hope instead that pet owners try to keep their animal from having close contact with other animals from outside the home. Just keep a dog- or cat-specific coronavirus from evolving and the vast majority of animals will be fine!

The purpose of lockdown is to slow the curve, and it clearly has done that. If we can't maintain ideally, that will cost lives and is of course regrettable, but the lockdown we did achieve won't have been for nothing.
