Alas, I have too much time on my hands, and sure, I could do things that'd be more productive like applying for student loans, crushing the bottles in the living room to take them to the recycling depot, mowing the lawn, etc etc etc etc, but I just don't want to.

There are productive things to do and they should not be done. Apparently laziness can be good for you, so you don't have to bother. You probably should, but not too much.

If it wasn't for COVID though... 2020 ain't half bad. To be honest, I am so used to being so isolated in my own home (with my family) that it became such a norm. Now I can only think of how awkward it will be if I start going out again.

Reopening is going to be really strange. I was just looking at my school's plan to reopen next year, and it's going to be extremely different. I don't know if it will be possible to return to normal after all of this.

My uni will be mostly doing online classes for the fall term, though there'll be a few physical classes offered: not that I'm enrolling in any of those, so it's basically all online.

Needless to say, when September comes around, I'm going to need a new laptop to replace this four-year old laptop.

If it's a WebEx lecture, I do. I don't do as well if they're like "here's the material we didn't cover, here's the essays due, read on your own, and we'll give you final exams :3" like my profs did when my uni switched to online learning at the start of this.

I do prefer in-person classes, and I hope in January 2021, I can go back to campus and learn in person, because that way, I won't be as distracted by the internet. That is also why I don't do well notetaking on a laptop during class.

Well, at least with WebEx you can replay the lectures if you miss something on one hearing right?

This gives me nightmare flashbacks to law school. It was such a struggle in so many classes to stay awake. Somehow I still graduated. Bad times though.

I am so glad we didn't have e-lectures back when I was a student. Internet distractions were enough of a problem during all my assignments, and my dissertation.

I hope you can get (safely) back in the class soon. University education is expensive enough as it is.

To fit the length, they always have to cut storylines, merge characters, change things that you find vital for the plot (although, TV adaptations that allow for expansion can match expectations: The Handmaid's Tale series was much better than the 1990 movie; and I still hope for a series adaptation of the Wicked Years series by Gregory Maguire, rather than a glossy film).

There are some film adaptations of books that are very good (I think Dickens, for most modern audiences, works better adapted), but some others range from "fine" to "why, God, why did you let them do this" (the 90s adaptation of Brave New World springs to mind)

I'm going to guess, one of the bots (Bing, Google, etc...) was probably scanning that thread when someone checked the "Who Is Online" page, and someone looked at the thread and posted (not realising how old it was).

It's a mistake that's easy enough to make, if you don't realise the bots go through the site's ancient history (on the other hand, the bots sometimes boost some quite entertaining threads if you're just bored and browsing).

Always advisable to check the last date of the last post, of course; but I can see how it might be done.
