Persuasion is difficult indeed

I find it hard as well

It's difficult for most people, I think. It should be taught in schools to correct that. But then having most of society disagree with you will always make it even harder.

Exactly. Most of the people who do that sort of thing really care about people. At least be polite to them if you don't have time.

The ones that visited my house were very nice and thoughtful people.

They generally are. I don't know how JWs get so many lovely people.

I'm generally nice to them. Grab me and all bets are off.

At a guess -- I'd go with love bombing. High-demand religious groups are generally lovely to everyone until they convert them.

Or, it’s not a massive conspiracy and it was just a nice man and woman.

Well, seeing as the JWs can be defined as a cultic group, I'll let Professor Margaret Singer (who studied the subject) answer this one for me:
Margaret Singer wrote:As soon as any interest is shown by the recruits, they may be love bombed by the recruiter or other cult members. This process of feigning friendship and interest in the recruit was originally associated with one of the early youth cults, but soon it was taken up by a number of groups as part of their program for luring people in. Love bombing is a coordinated effort, usually under the direction of leadership, that involves long-term members' flooding recruits and newer members with flattery, verbal seduction, affectionate but usually nonsexual touching, and lots of attention to their every remark. Love bombing – or the offer of instant companionship – is a deceptive ploy accounting for many successful recruitment drives.

Could members of high-demand groups just be uniformly pleasant and happy to see you all the time? Sure (though I'd guess that "putting a happy face" on is not uncommon). And I am sure that there are members of all groups who are genuinely lovely.

But that this practise exists cannot be discounted.

Pretty confident they did not flatter, seduce, or affectionately touch me. There wasn’t any “feigned friendship” either.

How much interest did you show?

I talked with them a couple times and then said that I was happy to talk but wasn’t interested in joining.

I used to live near a JW family... very pleasant... very persistent. They were ninja proselytisers; one once pressed a leaflet into my hand while I was distracted at the local supermarket (literally). I told them I was not interested, but I was not rude and always said "hello" in the street, so they kept trying until I moved away.

A sweatshirt is a loose shirt made of heavy material, generally thick cotton. A t shirt is a type of shirt, though sometimes “shirt” means specifically a button up shirt.

A tee-shirt is like an ordinary shirt but it has a secret compartment for golf balls.

Where-as a T-shirt is somewhat similar but bears the image of an early Ford car.

I assume it comes in black?
Abolitionism in the North has leagued itself with Radical Democracy, and so the Slave Power was forced to ally itself with the Money Power; that is the great fact of the age.

The triumph of the Democracy is essential to the struggle of popular liberty
