23 cases. That being said, I live in a town just north of Charlotte. Stores in Charlotte could be behaving differently.

Most cases, as far as I know, have been in the Raleigh-Durham area as well, so stores there could be behaving differently.

Possibly. But the confirmed case was south of here (I live in the northern part of the state) 5 hours away thereabouts. Of course, I live in a retirement area in the state, and we have a big elderly population so this may just be preemptive.

copycat effect. One person decided they were going to buy a shit ton of toilet paper, other people in the store saw him and decided he probably knew something they didn't so they started grabbing lots of toilet paper. Next thing you know, word gets around town and people at all the other stores start doing it. Then the news gets a hold of it and reports everybody in this town/city are buying toilet paper in mass and before you know it its happening nationwide. Then we hear reports of toilet paper shortages in other countries and sure enough, now there are toilet paper shortages in our own country.

All because one person in a town you've never heard of decided toilet paper was something he needed a lot of.

That makes sense. That person made a terrible decision. The rest of us also need toilet paper.

Our monkey brains assume that in circumstances of heightened worry or situations of stress and panic, that anybody else could have knowledge that we don't have. Such as that complete stranger is stocking up massively on toilet paper - he must know something I don't know and therefore stocking up on toilet paper would be a smart choice for me.

There was a video I watched a few months back where a couple folks set up a prank where one guy runs around a corner and down the road, confusing people, then somebody dressed in one of those tacky dinosaur costumes comes around the corner and the confused people literally get scared and take off running. Like, rationally, we should be startled by the sudden dinosaur coming around the corner but then immediately realize that dinosaurs aren't alive anymore and this is just a person. However, the added element of the first guy running around the corner looking terrified and acting like he's fleeing leaves a message in the back of our mind that says, "That guys knows something you don't know, whatever he's running away from you also need to run away from."

I actually got around, by my estimate, around 200 dice as of now. I bought a few here and there, and then bought Chessex's Pack of 100. I just love the colors and they look like gems to me. :3

And yet here we are, still having meetings here and there, and some physical classes. Sure, most of the classes got cancelled, but I still have to go back to school now and then.

I am just looking forward for an update in the warning level so that we can just completely work from home. I guess life still have to go on, what with the school projects and stuff!
