It’s simple really. It’s called a wild assed guess or a lie. The fact they did this is not an indication the people of his district wanted this done. Thus claiming he was doing it for the people is invalid.

Considering the last time this bill came up to vote there were protests against the bill isn't evidence that people were against it?

Are you expecting everyone to believe that in the 6 to 8 months between the bill suddenly all of the people who hated the bill love it?

That is something you'll have to prove.

All that was asked was a source request for the claim this was done for their people. The fact some people protested? source that one please and numbers of the protesters would be good.

Proof to what claim?

That these people actually exist^

Where's the proof that the party full of people who deny climate change suddenly want to support a bill that is supposed to ineffectively combat climate change?

Extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidence.

I mean I think most of us would love it if there were more Republicans who were actively opposed to climate change but I really doubt that reality.

There we go. Not so hard and would have been simple to answer. What were the numbers out of curiosity?

Then I expect a simple answer from you showing that the Republican voters in their districts actually support the bill.

You're trying to claim that there are Republican voters who want a bill that will give them higher gas prices to stop something that many of them don't even believe is real?

The Black Forrest wrote:What were the numbers out of curiosity?

I don't know, I'm thinking it couldn't be that many considering none of the protesters live in the city and most of them lack the economic means to simply quit their jobs for a day and protest, likely a thousand to a few thousand, let's run a mean of around 2000 people give or take a few hundred.
But there were around a thousand tractor trailers that showed up to one protest.

That's a lot of pissed off truckers.

If only Oregon had some method of determining what the voters want with regard to a bill.

We should make sure the people have such a thing. Maybe we could call it a People’s Vote?

Why? They're rolling in wealth and power while millions of Americans live in poverty and Americas politics are decided by the money of the wealthy, the whims of unelected elitist judges and the interests of politicians whose power comes from an undemocratic antiquated system. Rather than rebelling, the most armed segments of "the people" are happily defending this situation. If you're an elitist, the likes of the NRA are great.

Most but not all, that is the thing, there is no amount of wealth and money that can magically make a fired bullet stop hitting you.

They can buy the judges they can buy the laws, they can buy the government, they can even buy a large number of the people but they can't buy everyone and that uncertainty creates a risk.

And as we know from the stock market, rich people hate uncertainty and risk.

They can buy people. They buy a media outlet and brainwash morons to vote for their own disenfranchisement and poverty. That's what Fox is.

During the coronavirus outbreaks initial stages, mainstream media was talking about social distancing and echoing the advice of doctors while Fox was telling people to test themselves by holding their breath, to go out to bars and to blame North Korea.

Fox has proven that it's worse than CNN, MSNBC and most other mainstream media sources.
