If a senator doesn't come to the senate that day, because he's at a state agency reviewing their handling of the money that the senate and house have apportioned to them, to make sure that money is being used responsibly, is that not doing their job, or doing their job?

And why?

That is not the same thing

I think the question is important to be answered.

Is that doing their job or not? And why?

New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

Indeed. They can watch the businessmen fuck things up.

Indeed.

They are not doing their jobs. why not just flat out refuse to show up for session at all?

As I'm sure I explained the last time this happened, they are doing their jobs by not doing their jobs.

How would they become martyrs?

If the state police get involved, wager a guess.

Therefore its ok to give the finger to the majority of the state? If Republicans in your state did this you'd cheer them on?

They aren't going to shoot them and killing state police would not get them much sympathy.

im surprised they haven't replicated this tactic in every state legislature where they are in the minority. Why not do it in Congress to?

Apparently letting the climate be fucked to the point where Florada becomes underwater is there job now.

The police would just drag them into the room and force them to vote.

They wouldn't have to in my state, given that they control the Senate.
If the Democrats did the same, I'd find it interesting.

What if... a jumpy police officer does shoot a senator, due to mistaking something (like a banana or a cellphone) for a weapon? It's always a possibility.

By that logic if your in the minority why bother showing up to the legislature at all? You didnt win the most seats therefore punish everyone by not doing the job you were elected to do.

They were elected to advance the agenda of those who elected them. If they can best do that by bringing the government to a grinding halt, then they are doing their job.

At this point they might as well just show up, vote no, then go home. The issue is going to come up again.

Then vote no on the damm bill and stop acting like spoiled children. Why not just get elected and then not show up the entire session?

How is there an agenda when people tend to be single issue/soundbite voters?

So? What agenda would that be and let’s see your source.

If they retain their dignity while being forcibly dragged back to vote, they can easily spin it in their favor.

That doesn't advance their agenda. It advances yours.

Why not indeed? The world would be better off if our elected officials just fucking stayed home and did nothing.

I understand that. And the governor has options.

But I'm asking how showing up and losing would serve to advance the agenda of those who elected them. How does your response address the statement you quoted?

You're angry that Republicans are doing their utmost to advance the interests of their constituents. They represent their constituents, not the state as a whole.
