VA is going to be a lot closer than it should be because Northam has been a disaster for the Dems there but I don't think the GOP will be able to take it just because so many Dem voters have moved into NoVa.

Nah VA will go Dem regardless and it would've gone Dem in 2016 regardless of Kaine being on the ticket. But Hillary decided she needed someone to compete with her for lack of charisma so she picked Tim Kaine.

I really can't see VA going dem after the stunts northam pulled last month.

It’ll definitely draw out the Republican base that’s for sure, unless Northam employs voter suppression

On second thought, if Virginia doesn’t go red, I’m blaming it all on voter suppression!

Considering that bloc of the party was insubstantial in 2016 and the vast majority of Sanders backers went for Clinton, and considering Biden is at the very least more favorable to less-extreme members of the Sanders bloc, it seems dubious that they would break en masse or in significant numbers.

the (2016 primary: sanders/2016 general: not clinton) bloc is mostly the same as the (2016 primary: sanders/2020 primary: not sanders) bloc. disproportionately white rural voters who were voting primarily against clinton, not for sanders

There is no way Trump is winning Virginia unless a meteor took out Northern Virginia.

And yet Clinton got almost 3 million more votes than Trump. Weird. She lost because of bad campaign strategy, not because people didn't vote for her.

The rules weren't changed because of Clinton, she knew the rules when she ran for president, crying about the rules after the fact doesn't make it an unfair contest.

Imagine if we elected statewide officials not by number of votes received but by land area. I doubt many would think that was fair. I dont see why people think president ought to be any different

How would that be fair? In a state like Nevada a Republican would always win

Honestly, North Carolina, Arizona, and Wisconsin are gonna be the toss-ups of this election

Depending on how the possible recession and COVID-19 pandemic continues, it could possibly see Biden winning by some pretty big margins - if the current economic roller coaster continues, I'd imagine that states that were more assuredly Republican (Iowa, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, etc) could become toss-ups

How what that be equal representation when a majority of the population votes for someone else for Governor or Attorney General for example?
