Makes sense, many nations would be dystopias in the eyes of many normal people.

Well, what happened is I found a wikipedia article for Jenifer Government: NationStates which in turn lead me to finding the wikipedia article for the site. I went to the url and created an account. That's how I'm here.

Speaking of novels, I should read “Jeniffer Government”. I’ve been here 12 years and still haven’t gotten around to. I mean, spending over a decade in a forum inspired by it, I should’ve read it a long time ago, right? :p

I think I have a copy of the book somewhere

I found the game around 2009. What made me find the game was my interest in making a country. Of course during those times smartphones were not that well developed and games were still rather primitive (lol).

Before I discovered NationStates i had this notebook where I would draw cities, like from topview, it was here I would draq boxes to represent houses and buildings, have walls for defense, make out distrixts for rich, poor and middle class as well as even have mines outside of the walls for resources.

When I found the game, 2009, I was very interested with how the game writes a description about your country, you know that one you see when you log into NS. After that I tried learning how the game worked, the issues gameplay was enjoyable, but I quickly got tired since it was becoming redundant. I went inactive soon after, but then i found out we can make multiple nations, so that made me active once again.

But then i went inactive again. Im sure many of you had moments like this. This current nation of mine is ought to probably be my 8th one since finding this game, founded 2012, and has become my main one.

Around 2012 i found about the R/D gameplay and got hooked into it. From 2012-2014, raiding had me very active, those skype days were glorious hahah, but then RL made me stop playing once more.

Probs about a year later I went back again to play R/D and quickly ranked up a bit in a sense, this second time around I made lots of friends with several players, both in the game and even met some in Real life. Around 2015, I joined a region, PFQ, and this time around I got hooked to rping in the forums, I had my good moments and newb moments, but once more RL made me stop.

Now in 2020, ive been in my new region, Democritus for almost 3 years :) . Ive stopped playing the R/D game and have become very consistent in the forums in that three years except for a couple weeks of hiatus. And im already in my 20's btw.

Wow. When I started, I was only a kid, with his computer, doing nothing.... and now I have a good job, a small kid (ill let him find NationStates on his own) and an awesome wife. I dont know if NationStates had anything with it, but NationStates definitely played a key highlight in my life.

Kudos Max Barry!

Kudos Mods!

and Kudos NationStates and to all you freaky players!

This is also where I found Nationstates except Spike advertised it in YouTube.

Me too! I used to watch his videos regularly but I just stopped for some reason, anyway when I saw him advertising nation states I checked to see what it was about. I created my nation but I didn't join his region because it seems that it has already quite a lot of nations and I prefer to have a smaller community, then I joined Pacifica but it seems like the region was in chaos and the founder was unactive and then I joined lituevjia where here I am now

A friend showed it to me in school one day; apparently he was trying to get back into the game. I figured "what the hell, sounds like fun" and hopped on the bandwagon. At first I just did issues... then I discovered F7/factbooks and immediately got hooked on the worldbuilding aspect. And now I've written far too many words and my Chemistry grade has fallen 10%... :lol2:

Ya know, I finally had picked up Jennifer Government in like 2016 and read half of it but just never finished it... I should get to that.

Also bought Lexicon around that same time but never read it.

I use to play a game similar to this years ago (2006-2013) on Facebook called Nations. It was essential the exact same game here. A lot of people stopped playing and those that still played moved to this game when it was finally shut down.

I found the game on Google and made my first nation based on the worst possible world, according to my 13 year old self. Eventually, I made a few other nations, including this one. Then I decided that I should try to convert everyone to Christianity, which is how I joined the forums.

I don’t remember how I found the site at this point; it’s been a long time since that happened (this isn’t even my first nation). As for the forum, it’s easy to find, so it likely wasn’t long before I was on it.
