NYC cops ‘declaring war’ on Mayor de Blasio, union says, following ‘assassination attempts’ on officers

A police union says the men and women of New York City’s finest are now “declaring war” on Mayor Bill de Blasio following a pair of shootings targeting officers in the Bronx over the weekend.

The fiery rhetoric directed at the Big Apple’s Democrat leader -- who has implemented several measures critics say are hostile to police – comes as the NYPD filed charges against suspect Robert Williams in both attacks.

Mayor De Blasio, the members of the NYPD are declaring war on you!” the Sergeants Benevolent Association wrote in a tweet. “We do not respect you, DO NOT visit us in hospitals. You sold the NYPD to the vile creatures, the 1% who hate cops but vote for you.

NYPD cops have been assassinated because of you,” the tweet added. “This isn’t over, Game on!”

Police say Williams first ambushed two officers from the 41st Precinct on Saturday night, who had been sitting in a marked patrol van. One officer was wounded as a result of that attack when a bullet grazed his chin and neck.

Williams then walked into the precinct’s station house the next morning and opened fire with a 9mm handgun, injuring a lieutenant, police added. Only after running out of bullets did the 45-year-old Bronx native lay down on the ground and surrender.

I’m not a fan of how NYC has been going lately, especially the Bronx. I have familial ties to the NYPD so hearing of them being in danger is concerning to me. I feel that Mayor De Blasio needs to take a stronger stance in favor of the police in New York City.

I also feel the new Bail laws in New York State are a poor decision as releasing someone who was just arrested could cause them to take violent actions in retaliation against whoever put them in jail. What are your thoughts NSG?

They’re definitely not a good idea. I’m all for Criminal Justice Reform, but holy shit that was not the way to go.

Oh my.

My in-laws are democrats mainly. They support the police. Even had a family member die in the line of duty.

Try to make an interesting post rather then stupid ass nonsense.

There should have at least been a 48 hour hold for violent crimes.

Pretty sure the cops have been assassinated because that's what the second amendment was set up for?

They're a fucking disaster, and Di Blasio and all his yuppie asshole confederates in the city council are making it impossible for anyone to live here.

FUCK your miles of protected bike lanes, prioritizing bicyclists who dash into traffic, ride the wrong way, never look, and run lights over the pedestrians THEY hit and drivers. And bicyclists -- if you're over 12, GET OFF THE FUCKING SIDEWALK. YOU'RE A FUCKING MENACE TO FOOT TRAFFIC.

And fuck Corey Johnson crowing proudly about how they've done away with more than six thousand parking spaces in a city where parking is at a premium, and fuck ALL of them with "We're gonna make you all use mass transit, bike and WALK" when the mass transit system NOW can't handle all the people that use it, and there are plenty of elderly and disabled folks WHO CAN'T BIKE AND WALK.

Damn even the coastal elitists are getting hate in their own cities.

But ya that’s one way to lose your support

Well that's because at this point cities are the newest places to attempt social engineering. A nice captive audience to see how far they can push people around.

The only way to fix public transit is to give people no option BUT to use it. Then EVERYONE has to pitch in on fixing it.

The NYPD should just be abolished, it's not like the people living there want a safe community anyway given they elected a guy who's letting criminals out of jail for free.

Okay, so there's a lot to unpack in that melodramatic war declaration.

Some guy tried to kill cops. Okay, that's bad, but it's not the mayor's fault that people hate cops, and it's certainly not his fault that one dickhead wanted to kill cops at random. Not to mention the fact that, actually, people who hate cops aren't a "1%" comprised of "vile creatures". Generally speaking, people who hate cops are a sizeable portion of the population who've bore the brunt of living under the thumb of out of control policing. Also, being a police officer isn't nearly as apocalyptically deadly a job as they're making it out to be.

Lots of pure ideology in this sentence. I love it.
