Who's fault do you think that is?

People have a problem with being called a fascist because fascists are like the one political group against whom violence and repression is socially acceptable (it is illegal to be a fascist in several western countries). So when you call people fascist, you are really calling for them to be suppressed. And that really pisses people off.

Fascists should be suppressed though.

Pretty much clear-cut fascists.

tl;dr , the neofascist AfD have joined forces with Merkel's CDU and the German liberals (Freiheitlichen) to oust the left-wing candidate in a German Land.

Bit worrying. Especially given how so far the democratic parties on the right had refused to form alliances with the AfD , avoiding to give them institutional legitimacy.
When the barrier separating antidemocratic forces from democratic forces fall, democracy is in danger, because you can expect fascists to exploit the workings of democracy to abolish it.

Democracy, fascism.

You keep acting as if they are that much different.

I keep acting as if they are quite different.

I'm weird, I know.

I'd guess it's like the boy who cried wolf. The word 'fascist' has become a synonym for 'person who disagrees with me' so it's no longer surprising when someone is called a fascist.

And there are certain elements that simply won't accept that anything is fascism that does not explicitly call itself so. It is almost as if they are so incredibly naive that they cannot fathom a fascist lying about being a fascist, but I think it's more likely that they are well aware of that possibility and are, in fact, complicit in the deception.

Maybe, but like in that story, that didn't stop the wolf from eating him. They quite literally have a wing in their party that openly associates with neo-nazism, and they have not severed ties. One of their executives (AfD federal executive board) is almost universally known as a neo-nazi.

Indeed the wolf ate him exactly because of his falce alarms. Likewise, people are being lulled into hearing 'fascist' as just an SJW-born insult rather than something to take seriously. Not that it's all an SJW thing; it's also that it is more common to see racist jokes which have progressed (regressed?) From old boomer racism to new memes.

Höcke you mean? Yeah he does, undoubtly, stands in the same volkish tradition line that also is a not so-distant cousin to nazism.

"Identitarian" is a word that fascists call themselves as an alternative to admitting they're fascists.

There are differences between various fascist groups in how openly fascist they'll be in public. That doesn't make the less open fascists not fascist.

Nah people who call themself fascists (theres few here on NSG even) tend to have very different ideas and worldview than, lets say the regular alt-righter or so.

Compare Saiwania to Repubblica Fascista Sociale Italiana if you want a current example.

It makes as much sense as to say that Bernie Sanders is in league with Joseph Stalin.

One is far more open about what they would do, while the other less so.

It's like modern fascists going "look guys fascism doesn't need to have concentration camps, see, Mosley said..." and so on and so forth. Well, yeah, and communism didn't need to have the GULAG or the Great Leap Forward, and look what we ended up with.

It's shocking that what is preached may not always translate to outcome. It's as if fascists think they have some sort of exceptional capacity to make sure that what they say will directly end in the outcome they state they desire, though it's best to be highly sceptical of any fascist's honesty or integrity when it comes to simple statements.

Election of Minister-President by State Legislation

First Round: No candidate gains a majority (Left Party and AfD in race)

Second Round: No candidate gains a majority (Left Party and AfD in race)

3rd Round: New candidate of the FDP (small classic liberal/conservative party) enters into the race and suddenly and unexpectedly AfD votes for him and he becomes elected Minister-President (Governor sort of).

Then drama happens.
