Yes China in fact bad, its government are a bunch of tyrannical fucking cunts and its far better for Britain to have as little to do with China as it can, especially when it comes to any kind of information network or infrastructure

^ This. China (or rather the government thereof) is bad. Saying it is not a political statement at this point, it is a point of fact. A nation that imprisons its own people under a highly vague "Security Law" (which, in fact, allows citizens of foreign nations to also be arrested for speaking against the CCP), impinges on territories such as Tibet and Hong Kong, works to crush a pro-democracy movement, "re-educates" people for being the "wrong" religion, imposes a harsh censorship on its own people and wants to replace all thought with "Xi Jinping Thought" is a nation that we should have as little to do with as possible, and certainly one that should have as little to do with our information as possible (especially as they're suspected of launching a cyber attack against Australia).

Is this also going to mean the end of Chinese involvement in our nuclear plans? Or are we going to get more yes but no but yes but no...

Speaking of which, Day 11 from exposure is typically when people start entering Intensive Care. Pubs opened 11 days ago. Be interesting if admissions have spiked by the end of the week.

Also, It appears the R number in May for the UK was lower than thought. The bbc had reported that it was estimated between 0.7 and 1.0, whilst this latest study suggests it was 0.57.

Of course, if R was that low, then the risks of reopening pubs and shops is proportionately that much lower as well. At the time it was announced I was more or less opposed to it; knowing now there is evidence that the spread of infection is that much lower I'm more generally in favour of it...especially for those pubs you see in hamlets which are effectively the center of local communities
