[EDIT] So what is kicking off in South London? 22 police injured in clashes with a large crowd. Sounds like something that could escalate into an eighties style riot.

Basically it was an impromptu, unlicensed music festival and when the police came to break it up, people fought back and drove them away. Watched a video of one them as the crowd was basically chasing the cops away.

To the extent of it being political, people were shouting "Gang shit" repeatedly while it was all going down.

Horrible that so many were injured, hopefully the 2 police who were hospitalised can get a swift and full recovery.

Of course it's not time. It's never time, not on its own. You make it time. If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

It's always bad when people get hurt, but we really shouldn't have such draconian laws anyway.

My beliefs are irrelevant. I'm not a negotiator nor am I involved in the process. I see no evidence you are either, so I don't see any relevance in your beliefs, nor any credibility in your opinion.

Yet there seems to be a consensus amongst the EU and the UK that it is possible. Their belief is relevant. I see no reason to doubt their credentials in having that belief.

or that the UK will receieve an economic benefit from becoming more economically isolated than Mauritania?
Claim (that "no deal" will lead to the UK becoming more economically isolated than Mauritania) without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. I'm exercising that option. Come back when you have evidence supporting this claim and I might be inclined to debate. Until then, baseless claims go in the bin.

Realistically we are not going to know how the trade talks with the EU are progressing until they are done. Neither side is going to reveal their hand.

Not according to the IMF in both instances. But of course some rando with no evidence other than their own musings on an internet forum knows better right?
Standard South London practice - I lived in Catford for 5 years and random illegal street parties happened a couple of times in my road alone. Add to that people are getting a little crazy being cooped up and it's a volatile cocktail.

You honestly believe that you can negotiate a complex trade deal in 5 months or that the UK will receieve an economic benefit from becoming more economically isolated than Mauritania?

I don't believe they can negotiate a trade deal in 5 months, and we're going to have a no deal.

I'm not sure the coming heatwave is actually going to do anything about COVID19 numbers really. Considering that normally a number of people start dying of heat-related afflictions the moment the thermostat goes above 30 C's. These people aren't going to have the most robust immune systems once the heat really comes.

Odd because she was one of the people that thought the antisemitism issue should have been dealt with more quickly.

Also we're not allowed to blame the government for fucking up the response to COVID: JRM is now literally blaming the weather for the spread of the virus.

I'm not entirely sure how that works either.

Nah, what it is is an indication of how this kinda shit isn't ok any more - whereas Corbyn would've tolerated it, Starmer is effecting real change in this regard. Anti-semitism and promotion of antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories has never been ok. The Labour Party under Keir Starmer is finally of that opinion.
