No, I'm awesome, but I'm not able to adopt a new reproductive system by the process of thought alone.
But I do understand what being raped feels like, the emotional impact of such a thing. What it does to your confidence, your sense of self-worth and your ability to be the same person going forward. I see why women wouldn't want a constant reminder of something so traumatic in their lives.

Black Lives Matters activists say hate groups plan to target protests and ‘defend memorials’

Black Lives Matters organisers said they had decided to call off a planned protest at Hyde Park at 1pm on Saturday, warning that “many hate groups” were threatening the safety of those planning to come.

Far-right groups, with the support of extremists such as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who calls himself Tommy Robinson, plan to hold a “defend our memorials” event at Winston Churchill’s statue on Parliament Square, where considerable numbers could be present.
The extremists claim they intend to prevent the landmarks from being targeted after Churchill’s statue was daubed with graffiti describing the wartime prime minister as a racist on Sunday.

Another event – “Antifascists support Black Lives Matter” – is also due to take place on Saturday lunchtime. This event is supported by the Labour pressure group Momentum, among others.

Meanwhile, the chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council, Martin Hewitt, said forces were braced for disorder to continue through the summer.

So is it like, each political shade has their own sponsored protest on the field?

Can't they just make politically sponsored Cricket teams and duke it out in a tournament, without being cringey, noisy and disruptive around the city?

It might end absolute poverty but not relative poverty. We ended absolute poverty under Blair, but if it's creeping back then there's a need for minor adjustment to bring it back into line.

This is actually something of a major policy division between pro-welfare conservatives and pro-welfare soc-dems and liberals. Conservatives *tend* to view welfare as a mechanism for ending absolute poverty (As in, "Got a house? got two sets of clothes? got food? You're good.") whereas the others *tend* to view welfare as a mechanism for ensuring social mobility and equal opportunities.

Absolute poverty is considerably more austere to deal with than relative poverty, so even minor adjustments like 35p a week can stave it off if we're straddling the line of it being managed. The problem is that if you're aiming for the bare minimum to stave off absolute poverty, minor changes can be devastating to people. If people have been 35p a week down for staving off absolute poverty until now, that means they're skipping a meal every week or so due to poverty.

Once that starts happening you're basically a year or two of inflation away from the problems manifesting in the health service and so on, or with crime, or riots.

I expect this is a "We noticed parents were skipping meals so they could feed their kids, so this should end that.".

When you're living on the breadline, an extra one pound forty pence a month is basically one meal. (Especially if it was because they had some money spare, but not enough to buy another meal).

The issue is, if we're *seriously that close* to absolute poverty being a problem again, then it's a major indication that we're in trouble when it comes to the next generation, as growing up on "Barely enough to get by" has major impacts on their education, wellbeing, and health.
