So it seems that the government is back on the Brexit Before Breathing horse, and it's starting to turn people off. Because really when a government puts international or internal prestige above the needs and survival of the people it is supposed to represent, that's a pretty big problem.

Just maybe he's realised that saving every life isn't a sensible thing to be aiming for?

I can't imagine that Boris Johnson ever wanted to save every single life.

His silly policies seem to suggest he was giving life more consideration than it deserved.

I'm not anti-human, I'm pro-freedom. I just give freedom a higher level of consideration than all other factors, in the same way the more extreme pro-lockdown people believe in protecting life at any cost, I believe in protecting freedom at any cost.

Of course not. I'm not bothered whether the virus kills a load of poor people, a load of rich people, or nobody at all. As long as freedom is protected, other considerations take a back seat.

Virus disproportionately affects the poors.

Plus by that logic you would wish to legalise murder? Yes? Not abortion, actual murder.

Murder involves another person deliberately ending your life. I see the virus as something closer to passive air pollution, as virus pretty clearly doesn't care who it infects.

And the group disproportionately affected by the virus are elderly people. Given the government has taken over private hospitals due to the private healthcare sector being seriously weak-kneed (and getting sued for breach of contract in the process by a few people I might add), health treatment should be sort of the same between rich and poor people.

The Government's top priority should be saving lives, even if that means rich people have to stop having flashy holidays you know.

Shutting down the economy just so people with a short life expectancy don't suddenly have a slightly shorter one is not a sensible thing to be doing as a government, nor is abandoning important national goals for the same reason.

Remember that we shut down late by comparison to others, and that cost us, dearly. Remember also this happened when we still had little real data on what the virus could do and was potentially capable of.
Consider the situation if we hadn't shut down at all, the NHS would become saturated in days and a lot more people would have died due to an overburdened system failing to even assist "younger" people with medical issues. Your concepts of freedom would have crumbled in a country collapsing.
Also consider if this virus was far, far worse than it so far has been, and we had death on a scale magnitudes above what we have now. Again, your priorities of freedom would have meant nothing, the freedoms you enjoy even now would be smoke and dust.

Not if, even with the situation being far worse, the government still completely refused to shut down. Whatever the situation got to, however bad things looked, I would never authorise a shutdown if I was in Boris Johnson's position.
