Supporting a national healthcare service also improves nationwide productivity and does more to help people earn enough to get into business and contribute to the economy than the US model of insurances and private healthcare in which 65% of bankruptcies (IIRC) are due to healthcare bills. It’s economically sounder for everyone to pitch in for everyone rather than weakening the economy by making everyone poorer and less able to contribute.

But I think about my own wealth, not the countries.

And to answer Fartsniffage's post which I can't find: I'm willing to take more risks with my health to save money. I think I made that clear when discussing coronavirus.

I mean yeah at a function etc, but on the street from people I didn't know? Nah. My first question to them would be "what's wrong with it?", rather like my attitude when students are giving out free sweets is "what do you want?"

Once upon a time one of my college's societies gave away non-alcoholic Kopparberg to entice people to join. I mixed it with vodka and found it quite tasty.
