It was pretty obvious that GVH would be against checking people for weapons before they get on a plane, because why wouldn't you want people with knives and explosives on a plane?

In my view, any Briton that aligns with pro-Russian forces or supports any form of Russian expansion is a traitor to the interests of our country and our obligations to our European allies.

Any Briton that aligns with pro-Russian forces is a traitor.

Traitor is such a silly word. Give your loyalties to those who will appreciate them, like your family and friends. Your country cares little about what is in your heart unless to find fault with it.

When you support an oppressive regime, then it is.

But you've no duty to be 'loyal' to your country. I support a set of values, my country does not. I will prefer the country that has the closest thing to those values.

I think it should be, both as someone who does theatre, but also wishes to see the continued legacy and history of The Globe.

And not everyone in a society will believe in the same values of the country they live in. But if you have the right to express yourself, have access to good health care, a good wage, free speech, free press, democratic principles, then you live in a good country.

By supporting Russia, then you disagree with those listed principles.

If not the globe, then what? What other priorities could the arts council have? I thought the other theatres had larger reserves.

I would also bail it out, but I'd prioritise most other theatres in the country for financial aid. Other places in England have far fewer performance spaces than London does, and the ones they have do a much greater variety of work.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

The Huskar Social Union wrote:Britain first leader Paul Golding convicted of Terrorism Act Offence

Golding, who denied the charge, was handed a conditional discharge for nine months and ordered to pay a £21 surcharge and £750 in costs.

The leader of far-right political group Britain First has been found guilty of an offence under the Terrorism Act after refusing to give police access to his mobile phone on his return from a political trip to Russia.

Paul Golding, 38, was stopped at Heathrow Airport on October 23 last year on his way back from Moscow by officers from the Metropolitan Police.

He refused to give them the pin for an iPhone and Apple computer and was later charged with wilfully refusing to comply with a duty under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act.

Golding denied the charge but was found guilty of the offence following a trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Wednesday.

Chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot ruled there was “no doubt” that Golding had failed to comply with requests for information, despite his obligations being explained to him and being warned “over and over” that if he did not he risked arrest.

=CONTINUES=

Don't like the guy or his far-right politics at all. I remember watching a YT video a couple of years back that involved a gang of Britain First thugs storming into a mosque and intimidating an old man working there. Absolutely vile and cowardly stuff. The video was later removed by YouTube.

But forcing someone, anyone, to disclose the passwords to their electronic devices without a warrant strikes me as a gross infringement of civil liberties. So is some of the uncritical, enthusiastic, and thunderous applause to it by some in this thread. If this Golding POS is guilty of high treason or terror-related offenses, get a fucking warrant.

I do think, however, that if Golding is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of betraying the British Crown by aiding and abetting an enemy state or non-state actor, then like Shamima Begum, he should be stripped of his British citizenship and left to rot in Russia, and if he has a kid with a terrorist-sympathizing wife in a squalid, overcrowded, refugee camp after his white supremacist, accelerationist terror group hell-bent on the genocide of Muslims and assorted "darkies" is inevitably cornered and totally vanquished by a coalition of allied forces, then his wife and child are not welcome to enter the UK either, no matter how loudly a far-right version of ultra-woke Maoist Diane Abbott may virtue-signal, protest, and score far-right IdPol oppression points. Golding should be declared persona non grata and be treated no differently than members of other terror groups such as ISIS and Hamas.
