The one who thinks restricting freedom of the press is "a bit fascist", or the person who think the conversation is going to immediately devolve into calling the Tory's literal Nazi's as result

Not an accurate picture of the discussion. The post that kicked off the discussion literally said "Tory fascism continues", which is a statement worthy of scorn because it's patently ridiculous, and quite far from "a bit fascist" which would have a slightly more ambivalent meaning. What's since proceeded is people sort-of conceding that it's not outright fascist while also trying to play word games to not fully concede the point and suggest that the people who queried the stupid statement are somehow at fault for questioning it because doing so apparently downplays its importance or something? All that really needs to happen is for people to stop trying to defend the point and go "okay, but is this bad?" and we just move on to actually discussing the point.
