It's been an interesting ride, so I will quote a late, famous British author to mark the occasion. I find his oeuvre fitting to what has happened in the last few years, and for what is about to come.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

It's weird because even though it's about to happen on paper the actual impact of it won't be felt until next year. It's going to be the king of hangovers.

Well, some of the actual impact happens immediately. For example, the UK will lose all representation in EU bodies tomorrow.

Conserative Morality wrote:"It's not time yet" is a tactic used by reactionaries in every era. "It's not time for democracy, it's not time for capitalism, it's not time for emancipation." Of course it's not time. It's never time, not on its own. You make it time. If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

Because rich people could catch the corona virus, so better to hold them until we know 100% they don’t have the disease. Wouldn’t want the deadly illness ruining all that wealth accumulation.

I'm a prison abolitionist who believes in the strongest protections against government intrusion possible. I know that most rich people like stability, and things that help guarantee it whatever the cost, but I'm definitely not one of them.
