The PRC is not socialist. And this is the incompetence of the regime making things worse.
Sure this will not destroy the CCP (unfortunately this will not cause they people to overthrow it) but it only shows how flawed the regime is.

It says here:

China's constitution states that The People's Republic of China "is a socialist state under the people's democratic dictatorship led by the working class and based on the alliance of workers and peasants," and that the state organs "apply the principle of democratic centralism."[180] The PRC is one of the world's only socialist states explicitly aiming to build communism. The Chinese government has been variously described as communist and socialist, but also as authoritarian and corporatist,[181] with heavy restrictions in many areas, most notably against free access to the Internet, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, the right to have children, free formation of social organizations and freedom of religion.[182] Its current political, ideological and economic system has been termed by its leaders as the "people's democratic dictatorship", "socialism with Chinese characteristics" (which is Marxism adapted to Chinese circumstances) and the "socialist market economy" respectively.[183]

Seems clear cut to me

Umm that Constitution is pure legal fiction. It is pure propaganda and not practiced at all.
Citing fiction does not have any relation to reality. I can write “and pigs will become flying unicorns” in a constitution, but it still means nothing. For a constitution to be meaningful it has to be enforced via the rule of law and separation of powers. Things that do not exist in the PRC.

Besides you failed to answer the part about how the PRC incompetence caused this mess in the first place via a complete lack of food safety enforcement, covering up information and lying.
You claim to support cleanliness and order yet the PRC allows basically any exotic animal to be sold in completely disgusting and dirty conditions.
The PRC is literally a dirty place.

Given that infected people are asymptomatic for the first several days, the actual number of infected will undoubtedly be far higher.

The proper N95 respirators are more effective. The masks that we are seeing most of the Chinese wearing are more a placebo than anything else, as their air filtering is nonexistent.

When I have used an N95 for a long period it is actually fatiguing, because it takes considerably more effort to breathe, since you are needing to draw the air through the filters.

A full face gas mask when I have used one is even worse in terms of causing fatigue. Carrying out any physical activity when wearing one becomes exhausting in half the time it would compared to not wearing one.

When the virus comes to Britain, I'll wear a gas mask.

Not for the virus, but just because it looks cool and I now have an excuse to wear one.

The actual canon name for my nation is Oceania “insert 1984 joke here”. While it has gone through different disambiguations over the centuries, the concurrent form is the Federal Union of Oceania. This concurrent form is a federal union of several constituent states with a president, a large legislature, and a democratic constitution.

Oh yeah, Oceania has this thing where it likes to have a civil war every three decades or so
(My NS name was actually typed in by accident as I didn't know 100% how naming your nation worked on NationStates. So “Stratocratic-Anarchy Oceanic Empire” is now cursed to be my main on NS)

I'm wondering where actually can we get a N95? I'm used to wear the surgical mask most of the time since I used to spend my time in the lab before, but I guess I never actually see people wear a N95, much less a full face gas mask.

For me at least the N95 isn’t that fatiguing. Though I did have one that made it easier to breathe out of

"Buy a mask before the chinese buy them all" could be an effective ad :p

Anyway since this seems like a slow day for news, here's a bit of doomsday speculation for fun.

In Nigeria there is currently a different virus called Lassa fever doing what viruses do (it isn't a new virus, it's quite old, identified since 1969), though it seems far less infective than 2019-nCoV the sympthoms are more 'elaborate':
Symptoms of the disease generally include fever, headache, sore throat, general body weakness, cough, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, muscle pains, chest pain, and in severe cases, unexplainable bleeding from ears, eyes, nose, mouth, vagina, anus and other body orifices. It could also present persistent bleeding from sites of intravenous cannulation.

If nCoV reaches Nigeria, it could infect someone who was already infected with Lassa. It seems that in the case two or more viruses infect the same host there is the possibility of them mixing. So there it is a fast spreading virus which also makes you bleed from your ears.

(from looking more around, it seems recombination needs very similar viruses to work, and the two viruses here are from different groups and also very different, nCoV is a Coronavirus which have positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome with RNA length 30 kb, while Lassa fever is an Arenavirus which have negative-sense, single-stranded RNA viruses with RNA length: (S)segment: 3.4 kb, (L)segment: 7 kb. So it should be impossible for them to mix)

Actually, masks cover up to microbes of 3-4 micrograms, whereas, the particles of the coronavirus are 1-2 micrograms, so masks don't help much.

The N95 is a lot more expensive in comparison to the cheap shitty surgical masks that the Chinese have taken to wearing, so it'd likely be prohibitively expensive for most Chinese to use the N95 at all times.

The world health organization reported that nCoV mainly spreads by droplets, it isn't airbourne, so what you need to block is aerosol, N95 should be good enough to block small liquid drops.
