Medical experts around the world are debating if it'd be effective. You can't just shut down everything forever, economically or otherwise. Even ignoring the economy, society will eventually collapse, add the economy to it, and we're screwed. Sooner or later, it's bound to happen, so might as well do it in a controlled manner. That, or you have a massive mental health issue on your hands. And I'm not saying this as "yea, someone else shouuld do it", I'd even sign up to be infected by it, if it meant society got back to normal + being myself immune to it (rather than relying on someone else's immunity) is a bonus. Plus, if I'm gonna be placed under lock down, I might as well at least start building up immunity to it. I'd especially do it if I got paid. At the same time, we shouldn't infect people, either, especially vulnerable people. But, considerimg it would not be possible to keep social distancing everything close for ever. If you intentionally infect people who can cope with it with mild strains, rather than hoping it ends before a societal collapse, then it could be comtrolled. Where as if the later happens, the disease would run rampart uncontrollably, worse than it is now. I don't have the medical knoweldge to say whether or not it's a good idea, but as it's not a bad idea, we shouldn't take it off the table. I mean, after all, isn't that how the bubonic plague started to calm down? With modern medicine, herd immunity might be able to sustain the non-vulnurable till at least a vaccine is developed

My shitty take? Excuse me, I'm not the one who has a damn panic attack everytime someone mentions the chinese origin of corona virus. They had a reporter in the White House asking trump if calling it the China virus fuels anti chinese racism.
