I remember running over to my local Kroger yesterday to get some dish washing soap, some water and some toilet and tissue paper.
- There was no soap.
- There was no water.
- And the entire aisle for toilet and tissue paper was completely fucking empty.

So then I tried Walmart a few blocks away.
- Same exact shit. My family's almost out of dish soap and drinking water.

Panic buying is nonsene.

Thats why I got all those things in advance a few weeks earlier already. Pro-tip: try it in the early morning hours if possible.

Thing is, right before the panic buying around my area started to ramp up, we purchased things in a little more than moderation - not like hogging, but a little more than enough. My family's kinda big so we soon started to fall a little short on supply. Probs should've started buying more before that point but oops.

So what should be done after total shutdown, areas with little infections should be screened and people properly tested and then be declared green or yellow zones.

Three types of Zones would ideally emerge:

Green = Little to no cases, all known cases isolated, lockdown lifted (still no mass gatherings etc.)
Yellow = Moderate amount of cases, partial lockdown instituted
Red = High amount of cases, dangerous, total lockdown.

Major retailers say toilet paper hasn’t been out of stock in stores for more than a day or two, or even a few hours. Manufacturers, paper industry executives say, are raising production to meet demand, but there is only so much capacity that they can or are willing to add.

“You are not using more of it. After decades of declining sales, as newspapers and printed documents lost out in the digital age, many manufacturers converted to making tissue products, like toilet paper and wipes. That means there is more manufacturing capacity that can be brought online.

But toilet paper is typically made to order. Because it takes up so much room, storing large quantities is not profitable, so the industry typically has only a few months of inventory on hand.

“There is not some big underground warehouse like in ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark,’ where there is all this toilet paper sitting around in case it is needed,” said Dan Clarahan, president of United Converting, which sells manufacturing equipment to tissue companies.

In more normal times, toilet paper demand grows by only a few percentage points each year, mirroring population growth.

Ireland is going to suspend, for the duration of this emergency, the powers of landlords to increase rents and to serve tenants with notice to quit. Tenants will continue to owe rent, and rent assistance will be available to those who cannot afford their rent, while landlords are being given a three month holiday on mortgage payments.
