Sure, one needs to be vigilant but why are we so prone to panicking?

Given how it's spreading in China, there is a decent chance of millions in China contracting it I think. In the rest of the world, not so much (probably).

Yeah, that is within the realm of possibility. China's rather packed but I do feel like it's not within the best interests of the CPC in allowing the disease to even reach such a high number. They'd probably go full on quarantine mode before such a thing could even be possible.

However, at the rate that the virus is spreading, I think we'll probably reach a hundred thousand infected or so by summer.

April through May this year is the most pernicious period.

Freaks me out a little more than other sorts of problems.

Apparently, a vaccine has been developed but yet to be tested.

They already halfway there in that regard, I suspect the sheer population density will overwhelm that (keep in mind that the 15 quarantined cities are a combined 50 million people or so, and every other province has at least one confrimed case).

Chinese people should really stop eating exotic food like bats and banshees. They may be the cause for the outbreak.

Pfft, banshees?

But yeah. I guess there are several species of animals that are better to not be consumed. Or, if they insist, at least ensure that the animals are safe to eat. The preparation of the animals themselves are also far from hygiene.

It's less the actual foods, and more just having plain abyssal food quality laws.

Well, the Korean Ministry of Environmental Safety has banned the consumption of bats throughout their nation, and that reduced many minor outbreaks and disease cases, so I think the same would work for China.

Yeah, it's a damn shame no vaccine for SARS was pursued. While this might not be the pandemic it was hyped up to be, I do agree that many people are going to suffer as a result. I do wonder though how far the CPC might go if it only gets worse from here on out.

Fortunately, Koreans ate a great deal of Kimchi, which contained garlic as one of its ingredients, so they were able to overcome SARS. I don't know about the coronavirus, though.

Apparently heat and alcohol kill the virus, which makes one think Australians would be mostly immune... sadly not.

Similar issues are also spreading in my country, that make people justify that Indonesia's climate can counter the virus.
Of course, one has to forget that Malaysia and Singapore, after all, share the same climate with us and the U.A.E is literally located on the edge of a desert.

Perhaps, desserts can be eaten to overcome the virus as well.

So, it was funny when the Korean Minister of Safety chose Jincheon, Chungcheong-buk-do as the quarantine place for Korean Wuhan residents without consent from the local residents there, because the local residents came out in protest when he came out from his office and his hair got pulled.

Hair pulling is a known way of showing political discontent. :p

Yes, it was very funny to watch that on TV, but I really think the Minister should've discussed this with the local residents. I mean, according to them, the Wuhan quarantine house is near some of the Jincheon apartments.

I really hope I don't get this thing. Not so much because I fear it could kill me, the current infection to mortality rate isn't too scary and I'm in great physical health so I'd expect to survive it, mainly I don't want to end up in a quarantine. There are a lot of daily lifestyle requirements that would be complicated by that. Though I suppose if I was just made to stay home it really wouldn't make much of a difference considering that it's January and my seasonal affective depression says "Stay on the sofa and watch all 8 seasons of House"

Don't eat food imported from China, either. They are unsanitary.
