You're gonna make them take Brendan Fraser back? :?

Depending on the circumstances, that could be considered a war crime.

Dont worry, we dont bother bringing those to trial, :p

I actually wish we had some in Vancouver. They don't put on any fireworks shows because of the Festival of Light in August. Sometimes North Vancouver has fireworks, but it's nothing in comparison, and you can't see it very well from the city. I wish we had a parade at least.

Yeah, it's kinda cool. Downtown turns into Ottawa's painfully buttoned-down version of a street party, and the fireworks over Parliament are usually amazing. I'd give the stage show a miss, but the Jazz festival (running all week) is open for free in Confederation Park, and sometimes Major's Hill Park has some interesting stuff on during the day.

And then theres, y'know, the beer.

Not a helluva lot, given that it's (thus far) forecast to rain somewhat here in Toronto, and I have to work the next day, so no getting wasted for me.

That's cuz everyone in Vancouver is too drunk and high to notice as you should be.

As for me, I have bought I few cases of beer this weekend.

That's a Wednesday, so I'll be working. And we don't really celebrate it in the US, but as I'll be taking Thursday off (Friday being the official day-off for July 4th), I suppose I could drink a quiet toast to Canada.

That and because of the strike (not just garbage), Canada Day Celebrations here are cancelled.

I am from Canada | I'm some kind of Socialist | And also Batman
"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth." - Lucy Parsons
Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets or planning, how management is to be organised within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.
