"Gender critical" sounds like 'any noncis gender'phobic, who deep inside knows that they are terrible, so they need to find a term to them to describe themselves without getting called out for their beliefs.

Too sad, it's not working. Nice try, tho.

It's always amusing when bigots try to mask their true colors behind a veneer of respectability. The same thing happens with "identitarians"/"race realists." It takes so little work to crack open that façade, yet somehow people still fall for it.

As in how? That they buy porn, or hire escorts or other kind of adult related services such as camgirls etc?

If a fetus didn't exist, you wouldn't have the option to abort it. You can debate its personhood of course, but its existence, life, and death aren't really open to contention - they're objective facts. Poverty isn't fun but I'd take it over death.

I'm not sure if Nak was here.
I may return for somewhat longer than I was initially expecting. Why am I here? No idea whatsoever. I really ought to find some way out of this place.

Also, the NS stats don't reflect my RL views, just to clarify.

Questarian New Yorkshire wrote:The state is the people exercising (or declining to exercise) their power to govern the country. Nothing more than that. The state is no more to do with nationalism than business, church, court or army.

Nations are fake. Nations are formed from symbol. Symbol is of course important to man. See: Jung's Man and his Symbols. But Symbols do not a country make, symbols do not a people make. Symbols do not cohere men, only other men cohere men. Symbols can be interpreted many different ways. That's why you have some people around the world who burn American flag, and some people who wave it. Same way Communist flag for many means freedom, and it is on their national flag, and for others tyranny and it is illegal to burn it. Swastika we think is symbol of Nazis, but many other people do not think so.

Without symbol, no nation. But symbol doesn't mean anything, only what you tell people it does, and only what they will believe after you have lied to them enough. So symbol can mean anything. Symbol does mean anything. National flag and eagle is American symbol, but what did it mean to Armistead, Kemper and Garnett? Or what it means today, in complete opposite way, to Kaepernick? No, nations are fake. They are lies that people believe in to reach different truths.

The country is real. The country is the land, the fields, the rivers and the becks, the hills and the woods, the streets, the railway cuts, the beaches. The country is the stench of fertiliser, the salt that blows through into your nose and the boats lined up by the pier, the whipping wind on the moor, the lone lights of the car streaming down the roman road at night, the piss dripping in the back alley.

The country is the mud in which you first kicked a football, the stone bunker in the long gone bomber field, the streets, gardens, and parks where you first fell in love. The country is the war memorial and the plinth, the Norman church, the old homes. The country is the land which your ancestors forty generations removed put their sweat and blood into, the yards in which the women were buried after they had given birth, the fields in which men slaughtered one another. You are one tiny atom of the life of your country, and if you weren't, you would not be of that country, you would be an alien, or a guest. You are a fleeting part of the heritage of your country, which connects you to all the other fleeting parts to make an emergent mass, greater, stronger, more meaningful than the sum of your parts.

That is the only thing that is real. We can touch it. It made us. It shaped and formed our demands, desires, dreams. The country is the individuals greater connection to their community, to their history, to their future. It is not symbol, because it is real, because it can be touched, felt, smelt. It can be fought for, died for, worked for. The country is real.

Nations are fake. Death to nations. Long live the country.

You told us about the country and patriotism with impassioned words. Now let me muster a defense of the nation.

The nation is the slice of watermelon rested on your table on a hot summer afternoon, sweet and refreshing. It's the Emily Dickinson poem your first lover read to you when you were snuggled up together in a hammock in the spring. It's that you look on a field of bluebonnets with peculiar wonder despite all the other flowers that might grace your eye. It's the shanties and the dances that you learned and still know by heart. It's how you call your father "daddy" and your mother "momma." It's the steel guitar your grandfather used to play as he sang Hank Williams Sr. songs.

It's the collective memories that well up and bring tears to the eyes or put a knot in your throat or make your heart flutter with pride. It's in the stories your elders tell about ice cream parlors and state fairs and wars fought in far off distant lands that changed them loudly and then quietly. It's in the way your greet your neighbor and in the dress that whispers over knees and in the mud-caked boots the boys still wear even as they're falling to pieces. It's the heroes and heroines of your youth, the sacrifices they made, the tears they wept, the blood they spilled. It's the statues of bearded and wigged men that made you feel so small and so insignificant and yet strangely proud.

It's the particulars of character you strive to instill within yourself alongside your fellow youths. It's in the jilt of the anthem and the waving of the flag. It's the key lime pie you have on festive holidays and kids scrambling for eggs or spinning the dreidel or dressing up in costume to tell a story that's over two thousand years old. It's the call of the adhan when you're not especially religious but still have a fondness for the customs and traditions of the town where you were raised.

It's not tangible, not by itself, but it emanates through your understanding of all those things you can touch and taste and smell and see. You can't feel it physically but that doesn't mean you can't feel it in your soul. I've always thought that the country is the house and the nation is the home, the country is the body and the nation is the soul.

Hot take but if you admit to using call girls you lose any moral high ground to attack people like Trump for being awful towards women.

I feel like cheating on your wife is worse because you're violating an oath you made as well as violating standards of propriety and morality. With soliciting the services of a prostitute or sex-worker, you're only doing the latter. It's still a degenerate behavior, as so many are, and to be avoided as much as one's self-discipline allow. It's also still illegal.

It's difficult topic, because if prostitution is illegal, then it does not mean that people don't do it. If it would be legal, but highly regulated, it's not gonna end illegal prostitution, but it could minimize it.

I also see no real difference between it and unrecompensed fornication except for the possibility of the call girl having been a slave.
Of course, most of these people who criticize Trump for adultery were falling all over themselves to explain how Clinton sleeping with his interns was perfectly fine, or at least not something we get to be concerned about, but when Trump does it...

I mean, prohibition worked at what it was intended to do- reduce alcohol consumption. It just had side effects that were worse than the disease.
Now we can make the argument that criminalization of prostitution is along the same vein. But there's also a strong argument that it isn't, because girls from foreignstan get trafficked into countries where it's legal(and undocumented migrants are often kept in state of de facto slavery in destination countries).

Well, it certainly works better for consumers. The real question though is whether or not it works better for artists.

It's not about law and law breaking. It's more about safety. I am not saying that everything should be legal, because people break law... what?

But yes, trafficking will still be a problem.
