While I don't like porn as much as the next socially conservative person, scrubbing it out of society is going to be difficult. Anyway porn is part of a broader human problem which is: the spread of imagery. Humans are emergent. We know a lot about their biological processes, and we know a bit about their social processes, and then less about their psychological processes, but humanity collected is more than the sum of those three parts and we haven't even got started with thinking about a unified theory of humanity. So, while we think about issues like porn that may affect humans socially and psychologically (even biologically) we just let it go about its own business and doing the damage it does (or doesn't do).

Most of the effect of pornography on people is focused around young men and most of the described effects are generally guesswork. But if we go back to the idea of imagery, for most of its existence mankind did not have to deal with imagery the way it does now. We now have full audiovisual picture of almost anything on demand. We can't be sure what affect that has on us personally and socially, which is dangerous. If you use porn you will notice that it trends towards the fantastical. Just by cursory glance at the videos available on just normie porn sites (without going into any fetish stuff) you will see what I mean.

Technology has bridged the gap between the dream and reality, in this respect and others. The problem is that sex and fantasy isn't the same thing as say, the Neverending Story or Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. Those things bring the imagery of fantasy to life, in the same way porn brings the imagery of sexual fantasy to life, but sexual fantasy, unless you're incredibly unsuccessful, eventually is brought to life, unlike the Neverending Story, Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars. Some people might describe this as something for fully actualised humans — the very content of dreams presented in full, realistic audiopicture. It's only getting more intense: virtual reality porn is becoming a thing.

This something we have to socially and personally confront before technology runs wild with the possibilities. Increasingly people start to see pornography as something liberating because they connect fantasy and personality. A person's sexual dreams and fantasies become part of their identity, and disconnecting them from that fantasy is like an attack on their identity. This speaks both to how important sexuality and sex is to humans and also how important identity is, but we have to seriously reverse this trend (imo) before it gets any stronger simply because if we don't it's going to cause a shit load of unforeseen changes that are probably going to be very negative.

Sex is a basic part of human actualisation, like all the other pleasurable things in life you should be able to enjoy it. But like alcohol, steak, and cocaine, there's also a component that needs to be regulated.

People are scared of 'degeneracy' (and often those people are the most degenerate, sorry to use the trope but it's true), but pre-generate humans didn't have sex like we have it now. It was mostly just for procreation, probably. Advances in sex are like advances in technology because sexuality is a social technology, so if you want to reverse those you are reversing the human condition and also it's probably just not possible. Accept that you don't believe in any deities. It's not something you can force and you'll just become bitter and disappointed with the religion if you try and force it.

Things can always change on that front too. There's a number of formerly atheist but now religious people on NSG, representing everything from Christians to Muslims to pagans.
