Just like several officers in New York have.

And you know why they are allowed to declare themselves above the law?

Because the government itself doesn't really care about enforcing the law either.

They aren't going to go into a small town and arrest and remove everyone for not bowing to their will because the political blowback will be far greater than whatever gain they would have.

Because for the most part them not following a pointless political law hurts no one, all it does it hurts the egos of the people in the Capitol. As long as they aren't actively doing something oppressive, they aren't going to remove a local government. Unless the local government does something really immoral or illegal that shows up on the news, for the most part state governments know better than to try and micromanage every single county and city in the state.

No one is above the law

Effectively they are. The sheriffs and mayors who refuse to enforce federal laws regarding illegal immigration and weed, and state laws regarding guns are effectively above the law because nobody is enforcing it. Either they are above the law or the law doesn’t actually matter

A law is only as powerful as the one enforcing it.

And if a law is not being enforced then yes, you are above that law.

There are a lot of 'stupid laws' still on the books all over the country that people don't enforce because they are stupid and obsolete...

And if the "Majority" of the law enforcement of an area refuses to do something about the law.... not much you can do.

Maybe you should move one of those counties of those 2nd Amendment havens and run for office.. if you want to change it that badly.

Also, not enforcing the law doesn't make one above the law. Deliberately violating that law and using your position to get away with it makes one above the law.

So you agree that cities that are against the federal illegal immigration raids should be stopped? That the mayors of said cities should be arrested? So you agree that the states that legalized weed should be stopped? That the governors of said states be arrested? So you agree that the cities that are against gun control should be stopped? That the mayors of said cities should be arrested? So you agree that the cities that are against anti-abortion laws should be stopped? That the mayors of said cities should be arrested?

Well then, since the 2nd Amendment is the highest law of the land in regards to arms and supersedes state and local laws , mayors/sheriffs/local law enforcement are enforcing the law.

Functionally they do. They have the authority to determine how enforcement is carried out, and "never" falls within that determination.
