Oman, generally, seems like a nice enough place, I suppose.
Don't hear a whole lot about it in American media, though...
Not hearing about it in the US media is a good sign. It means it is not belligerent, not in a civil war, not sponsoring terrorists, not shockingly poor, and not committing the worst human rights abuses. It stays quiet and stays out of trouble. It is not an exceptionally great place by global standards unlike say Norway or Switzerland. But is not bad, especially by Middle Eastern standards.
It is like the quiet kid in class who is not a trouble maker, gets good enough grades but is not the top of the class. Who has few particularly close friends but also few real enemies.

Maybe either Qaboos died on January 7th, or the council was like "let's just open the letter now and see who he nominated."

Nah - he died just yesterday - maybe they wanted to do everything as quickly as possible to reduce any problems...
Though I do wonder - how exactly was the letter done? Did they just sit for hours on end just waiting for the now ex-Sultan to write it, or...?

Makes sense, the country is called Oman, not Owoman.
Though I personally prefer Opeople.

I wonder why Sultan Qaboos never had kids.

The Arabs deserve a republic and secular order,I do not define this idea as imperialist. The ideas that are actually imperialist are to support separatist ideas in the Middle East (sample usa and russia puppet kurdish state). Cultural identity or important universal conscience ? I don't want people killed just because they're gay. I don't want a world ruled by monarchy and ignorance. You're right about Israel and the dictatorship, I'm talking about it shouldn't happen.Trollzyn the Infinite wrote:
1. No, fuck this imperialist nonsense.
2. Morocco, Libya, Tunisia, Eritrea, Somalia, Algeria, Mauritania, Djibouti, and Lebanon are not Arab-majority so please leave them out of this nonsense.
3. Eritrea isn't even Muslim majority so that's even more reason for them to not be included here.
4. The Arabization of the Lebanese, Berbers, and Somalis needs to stop.
5. Kurds, Copts, and Assyrians deserve to have their own states, not be subjected to further Muslim Arab misrule and abuse which is driving them all to extinction through annual periods of genocidal extermination and repression of their respective cultural identities.
Please take your secular pseudo-Caliphate and keep it as far away from the Middle East (and North Africa + the Horn) as possible. The last thing this world needs is an Arab nationalist superstate because every time Arab nationalists try to build a secular utopia it becomes a socialist dictatorship that erases the cultural identity of non-Arabs; if not deport them/drive them to emigrate en masse from their homelands or ethnically cleanse them. That's not even touching upon the immediate threat to Israel such a state would pose that would undoubtedly send Tel Aviv into such a mass panic attack they end up doubling down on their already extreme policies out of fear of impending invasion and a Second Exodus at best or Second Holocaust at worst.
