Which cheese is the best?

There are a lot to choose from: hard cheeses, semi-soft, soft...
Cow's milk, sheep's milk, goat's milk
And for the Philistines of the group: processed cheese food.

So which is your favorite?

I like a good, tangy goat's cheese spread on a cracker with fig jam.

Depends on the circumstances.

Limburger off the block on a cracker for a snack, cheddar on a ham sandwich, mozzarella or provolone on a loaded sub or pizza...

I would have to say feta, though. Nothing better than a big slab of feta on a hard salami sandwich with some hot sauce and an onion bun.

If you have proper olive oil, and I mean proper, then burrata with fresh tomato, simple and perfect.

I believe that the best cheese I’ve had was a smoked Gouda.

... best? I'm supposed to choose only one?! Poll needs a "yes" or "ALL OF THEM" option. :(

Ultimately it depends on many things.
What are you using it for? How are you eating it? With or on what type of food? Or by itself?

But one I particularly like is pepper jack.

Something with minimal flavour that is hot and melted and buried under a bunch of ingredients and definitely sauce/s... served on a pizza base... and isn't Parmesan.

Cheese is foul. Given I will consume it in the above circumstances... I guess mozzarella and other common pizza cheeses win by default (due to their ability to avoid the essential qualities of cheese).

It depends what you are using it for.

I really appreciate a good buffalo mozzarella, but mozzarella tends to have a very gentle flavor and there are some dishes where you want a stronger cheese.

Putting my word in for Swiss. Cheap, practical, tasty on its own, and I don't get sick of eating it. Plus it has those fun little holes that you can use to hold it more easily. :)

American

Or limburger

But, more seriously, I've always been partial to blue cheeses.

Swiss cheese definitely has the most recognisable aesthetic. And why judge by taste anyway?
