If it were the senate that picked, which typically leans republican, I imagine there would be riots.

269 votes would be a tie, 270 is the majority number he needs to (barely) win.

The House of Reps would elect Trump by each state delegation - Dems control the house, but the state delegations are divided (24 - 24 - 2 I think?) equally.

Thus, the new 2020 class would elect the president. If Dems manage to win a majority in Florida, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, then the president will probably be the Dem nominee. If the state delegations are tied, then who knows.

Who WOULD be the Dem nominee? If it's one of the ones that just plain shouldn't get elected... *shivers* I shudder to think...

I hope the people who talk about 'if Trump wins/loses then it's civil war!' are just blowing smoke out their asses.

Civil Wars are bad, y'know.

The US will never enter a civil war because of this, and if somehow it does happen, the Republicans will enjoy an easy victory because they own most of the guns and they know how to use them too.

Talk is easy.

Protesting is easy.

Picking up a gun, shooting and being shot at is hard.

There won't be a civil war.

Why does everyone keep thinking it's a tie? I stated in the OP that Trump barely wins the electoral college majority. I'm not asking what happens in a tie breaker, I'm asking what happens if he wins with 110,000,000 votes against him.

Democrats will just send agents to unplug all the Walmart mobility scooters, thus crippling Republican logistics.

In any case, Trump slithering through the EC again while losing the vote by any margin would probably start the breakdown of even the institutional legitimacy of the Presidency, as it would make him the first President in history to win two terms in spite of being unable to secure the support of a majority or even a plurality of voters, compounded by Republicans, wielding disproportionate power while representing an ever shrinking minority, continuing to ram their policies through and pack the courts all while shrieking about how they're the real victims because buzzword buzzword "tyranny of the majority!"
