why are you iffy about BBC, PBS News, ABC, and NBC?

They are a bit biased. Reuters and NHK World English are both very objective and use neutral language.

I'm a teen, so take my response with a grain of salt.

Most of the media here in America is stupidly sensationalized, and that's before you factor in the hugely leftist political bias. I consider most sources a waste of time. (Looking at you, CNN.)

However, my parents get the WSJ, and that's usually fine thanks to their focus on the market taking off the political edge. Since I live in Indiana, the local news is also good - it's run by people I can relate to, not distanced unintelligent urbanites who think the Midwest is just crop fields.

I also use several subreddits; if something genuinely important is happening, I cross-reference between them to compile the most likely story. When the coronavirus thing was just starting, I crossed between r/worldnews, r/askscience and Google to very quickly determine that it wasn't a cause for concern in the US. In the meantime everyone was still having a freakout.

I also watch a little CNN or BBC on occasion, with the very rare visit to Fox News just to see how pandering they are on a particular day.

Oh, and sometimes ABC or SBS have something interesting on, although I don't normally go to them for news.

Oh don't kid yourself, CNN is just as pandering at times. BBC tends to be fairly objective though with their coverage of America centric news.

The local newspaper.
"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

NPR, Reuters, AP, any of the other major news outlets get vetted based on the content. For example, Fox News is (surprisingly) reliable with regard to non-political topics and some of their staff writers on their website have decent credibility. The same can be said for the various NBC outlets, if it isn't on MSNBC it's usually pretty reliable, but as with everything else one needs to do some of their own fact checking before deciding on the validity of whatever is being put forth. The same can't be said for other outlets (coughcoughCNNcoughcough) anymore, though.

Honestly, I hear more from NSG than anywhere else. I don' really like tv.
I am Center-Left Libertarian. (-3,-3) on the Political Compass. My friends call me Whiskey cause I was named after a bottle of Jack Daniel's.

I've been drowning myself in work, I just started Culinary School, and I recently got called a Boot Licker for thanking a veteran for their service. I'm sad that I have to witness the part of history where supporting Cops and Troops is seen and a radical ideology.

My primary news source is the New York Times, which I read in print on Saturdays and Sundays and digitally (through a paid subscription) the rest of the week.

Beyond the Times, I often read Politico for political news, and occasionally scroll through Apple News to get hot takes from other outlets. I will rarely check the Washington Post or AP News websites if I want to get an alternative look at an important story.
The details of the above post are subject to leftist infighting.

I officially endorse Fivey Fox for president of the United States.

E-mails from your mom.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.
