Tomorrow night and no, it's not anarchy. The last time people were told not to come to work, national parks and museums were closed, some other things, but the mail was delivered, the armed forces stayed on the job, etc. You could look this up, you know.

Everything to come close to proper chaos near the end of the last one once the ATC stopped showing up to work.

We’re not certain; a post came up saying that it’s not gonna be for an extra day plus that time. We’re confused currently.

The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday approved legislation to avert a widespread government shutdown later this week with a bill extending temporary federal funding through Dec. 20.

The legislation passed the House by a vote of 231-192, with all but a dozen Republicans voting against the funding.

It now goes to the Senate, which will aim to approve it before midnight Thursday when existing funds expire. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday said the White House had indicated its support for the bill.

This second stop-gap bill since September is needed because Congress has not completed a series of regular appropriations bills for the fiscal year that began on Oct. 1.

That in part is because of disagreements between Republican President Donald Trump and Democrats, who control the House, over the billions of dollars he wants to build a U.S.-Mexico border wall.

The same disagreements resulted in a record-long, 35-day partial government shutdown that began late last December and extended into early 2019.

The government would have no money left to it. That doesn't mean that the country has no money, just that the allocations made have run out.

In essence Congress creates what is called an appropriation bill where it allocates a set amount of tax money to different parts of the government. Without this bill, taxes are essentially not allocated to the various agencies, and eventually those agencies run out of money to work. The tax money has still been collected, but the various agencies cannot use it.
