Well no, the only relevant discussion here is that they shouldn't. To do otherwise is to discuss how well mass murderers tip.

One could make the argument that if a large business that is vital to the functioning of a national economy is at serious risk of failing, then the government should prop it up on the condition that the business implements necessary changes to continue functioning. But the argument could also be made that, if said business is so vital to the nation in the first place, then nationalization may be an alternative.

I think you need to take a step back and have a rethink, if you seriously think that is the only relevant discussion in this thread.

I’m of the mind that if certain industries are vital to national security then they should be nationalized

Having been in that world? It’s not as bad as that. Republicans like to outsource as they can give money to friends. Reagan was big into that.

Some cases? Sure. It makes sense.

As you mentioned, case-by-case.

If the government is only doing an activity for a limited period of time using contractors makes sense.

That's an interesting proposition. I do want to know though, why do you prefer various businesses being nationalised and owned by the government? I guess I'm fairly lenient on the topic at hand since I'm okay with private companies extracting oil and gas and I'm also of the mind that tech companies being independent would mean competition would pressure them into innovating and inventing new technologies as long as people keep demanding more and the monopolies aren't too bad.

What do you think and why do you prefer nationalising these industries?

The Federal Reserve's capital markets responsibilities should be outsourced to Drexel Burnham Lambert.
The Bear Stearns Companies, Inc. is a New York-based global investment bank, securities trading and brokerage firm. Its main business areas are capital markets, investment banking, wealth management and global clearing services. Bear Stearns was founded as an equity trading house on May Day 1923 by Joseph Ainslie Bear, Robert B. Stearns and Harold C. Mayer with $500,000 in capital.
