At the very least if they are not lying with intent, they are still not telling the full truth.
The US still makes some aluminum, and the smelters we have are under capacity and could make more. And reopen closer ones. Again we can get the stuff somewhere else. Always.
Maybe not always cheaply or easily but we can still get it.
And and as for farmers or workers laid off, we should not ignore them of course, but provide programs to get them back into other jobs. And are not a majority of people.
And what is your alternative? That we just continue to surrender our economies and the environment to hostile totalitarian regimes?
Is that the future you want? Where the whole world looks like Beijing or Pyongyang?
We are already been censored by foreign regimes. How do you propose we stop it if we make them stronger than us?
So again, you accuse CN of effectfly lieing with no evidence backing that up.
China makes 55% of the worlds sullpy of aluminium.
We would be drastcly dammage ourselfs.
Will those other jobs be union and pay as well as CN? Doubt it sense CN pays by the bucket load.
My alternative is that we dont lay off 1000 hard working CN employees in the name of Trumps trade war.
I ask again, is it worth it from the perspective of a layed off CN employee or a grain farmer who cant get there grain on the rails?
Again your suggestion sounds nice on paper but runs headlong into realty. Again the libatarions will fight tooth and nail on this so even if we did manage to pull this off they could vote in someone that would just undo everything.
