While true that the comparison is ridiculous, ICE is often pretty much the shittiest shitstain on the underpants if the law enforcement community. There have been multiple cases in which they have arrested and detained US citizens, and once you are in their system your life is miserable and your fate might not be decided for days, weeks, months, or in some cases years (and yes, there have been recent cases US citizens detained for years, wrongly). Often, ICE ignored exculpatory evidence, their databases are wrong, or they target the wrong person. Hell, they were responsible for deporting an actual US citizen not too long ago, who only got back to the US by the Grace's of the Guatemalan government.
If you are a US citizen caught on the wrong end of ICE, there is very little you can do to get out of it in anything approaching a timely manner. Yet, ICE is treated above reproach, and these illegal, and arguably unconstitutional, abuses against citizens ignored for it. Any other law enforcement agency would be drowning in civil rights abuse lawsuits for wrongfully detaining a citizen for extended periods of time. For ICE, it's just another Tuesday.
