So, the thought process is, less testing = appearance of fewer cases = everything's fine = we reopen = approval for the Donald. Though like I said that's a stupid and dangerous way to look at it.
Notably, increasing testing - especially once we can test for antibodies good - will most certainly decrease the mortality rate.
Of course, if we test we can track and then treat (if necessary). However, I think the US government would, if they could, go down China's route of downplaying this as much as possible, lying to the public about infections and mortality rates, and generally trying to make everything seem fine.
