Have to remember that double think is pretty fundamental to conservative thought: government programs and 'handouts' that benefit them either don't actually count as government handout (for reasons), or are okay because they really deserve and need them. It's those government programs and 'handouts' to other (read: minorities and commie Democratic voters) people that are horrible tyrannical wastes of money.

So the auto bailout was horrible irresponsible socialist money wasting because it went to a lot of minorities and union and other Democratic type voters, while Trump spending twice as much bribing farmers to keep their mouths shut about the damage his trade war was causing is clearly a perfectly good and responsible use of government money because it was going to good white conservative Republican voters, just the way Jesus intended.

They didn't, that would be Trump throwing money at farmers to keep their mouths shut about the fallout from his trade wars.
