So we've got the new budget.

The budget would cut Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program and also wring savings from Medicare despite Trump’s repeated promises to safeguard Medicare and Social Security.

It takes aim at domestic spending with cuts that are sure to be rejected by Congress, including slashing the Environmental Protection Agency budget by 26.5 percent over the next year, and cutting the budget of the Health and Human Services department by 9 percent. HHS includes the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which will see a budget cut even as the coronavirus spreads -- although officials said funding aimed at combating the coronavirus would be protected.

[...]

It would target the Education Department is for a nearly 8 percent cut, the Interior Department would be cut 13.4 percent, and the Housing and Urban Development department would be cut 15.2 percent. The State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development would be cut by 22 percent.

So yeah, social programs being gutted to fund tax breaks for the rich, as usual.

And of course Congress will "compromise" by only gutting social programs a little bit and only reducing tax for the wealthy by not as much as Trump asked for and they'll all pat each other on the back for a good bipartisan deal while the lower class gets shoveled into the furnace en masse.
The details of the above post are subject to leftist infighting.

I don't think the House will compromise at all with those cuts. The "President's budget" is advisory and doesn't have any legislative force.

Where compromise might come in, is the Senate writing in a whole lot of cuts to their version and then seeking budget reconciliation. However I think that can be delayed long enough not to have a budget at all this year.

Obama's budget got ignored for every year he was in office from what I remember.

With the disjoint between the houses, and the hyper-partisan atmosphere, I'd be surprised if there IS a budget this year. Several years in Obama's term had no official budget, they funded by department and with continuing resolutions.

Well this is terrible.

Native American burial sites in Arizona have been blown up by construction crews building the US-Mexico border wall, according to lawmakers and tribal leaders.

Authorities confirmed that "controlled blasting" has begun in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, a Unesco recognised natural reserve.

Why should we be concerned about the burial and or religious sites of the people who were living on our land.

I wish I could be shocked. There is no low bar the trump party will go. I am sure the cultists will defend the action.

they are

and speaking of lows, here's still lower: this admin of rats, dicks, shits, assholes, demons, and stephen miller is apparently talking to the laotian government to recieve hmong and lao deportees it of course wants to deport, because of fucking course

In late January, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Lao foreign minister Saleumxay Kommasith. In a recently surfaced letter dated Feb. 3, U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum said the administration "is negotiating with (Laos) to allow for the deportation of longtime Hmong and Lao residents of the United States back to the country of their birth."

McCollum, a Minnesota Democrat, blasted the policy as "a direct attack on my constituents and their family members" and called the proposal "unconscionable."

The proposal could reportedly affect more than 4,500 Hmong and Lao U.S. residents who are not citizens and who have committed crimes or have deportation orders against them. These individuals have been safe from deportation because of a long history of human rights violations against the Hmong by the Communist government of Laos.

Then you'll happily hear that the Senate Budget Committee won't take it up. It honestly is only an aspirational document that just highlights the President's priorities. One of those lacking highlights is the fact it offers no new funds for homeless. It does offer $2.8 Billion in grants to the homelessness assistance but cuts HUD by $47.9 (15%).
