Well I do have some concern about Nicaragua's elections, although I'm still very doubtful on what the truth exactly is, what's clear is that the US State Department has lost all credibility about Latin American politics since sooooo long that their comment is just a total joke.

Mexico has become even more of a failed state under AMLO, his law enforcement approach has been basically to allow the Cartels to do whatever they want. Murder is even higher under him than it was before, and by current estimates Mexico City only controls about 2/3rds if the country.

The remaining 1/3rd is criminal anarchy.

Plus many of his concepts are a confused mess. He wants to improve living standards and education but his approach has led to to infrastructure declining, plus his inability to confront the teachers union means he cannot actually make any education reforms.

In his defense I think he means well, compared to the many of us predecessors who were straight crooks.
But he is clearly not up to the task. He means well, but a lot of his ideas are contradictory and bad, and his “hugs not bullets” has seen more even more bullets flying.
