Anyone wanna place bets that the "reelection" in Bolivia's gonna end with the opposition party having >70% of the vote instead of the ~30% they had in the first election, as up and coming anti-democratic regimes love to do?

Fuck Bolsonaro, fuck Macri, fuck Colombia's Leader, fuck Ecuador's leader, fuck Chile's leader, impeach them all.

We had something work for fucking once and people prospered, Bolivia especially needed it, they basically fucked over a people, this is against human rights.
Invade them?

Macri just got unelected. And Bolsonaro might soon be thrown out of office only to be replaced by a ultra-right hardliner vice-president who looks like a mix of General Bison and Manuel Noriega on steroids.

I think that depends on what voting system we're talking about. If it's electronic voting, expect shenanigans galore.

Whatever reservations I might have about Alberto Fernández, I can't get enough of that sweet, sweet fact. Macri is gone, in the first round, after pulling every desperate stunt he could come up with to save himself. He even kissed some random old woman's feet on camera and tried to cringepost his way out of the memes against him.

That's where anti-democratic regimes go wrong. If you're going to allow elections in the first place, don't fix them so you win by a huge amount. Nothing attracts international attention like a lopsided election. Make it look real, 53% to 47%, somewhere in that neighborhood. Mix it up a little. Slip some of your people into the opposition parties, then let one of them get elected. When they turn out to be a do-nothing, you win the next one. If there's a term limit in place, get your family elected. There are so many ways to do this that don't look like you're fixing the election.

The thing is, though, is that without an international or internal response to such blatant authoritarianism, there's no reason for anti-democratic regimes to make their "elections" look legitimate.

Which, of course, ends up being doubly hilarious in Bolivia's case since the people screaming most loudly about election fraud are anti-democratic assholes who are now arresting the electoral committee after couping Evo Morales.

Pretty much every South American left-of-center person and organization of note I could find has condemned what happened to Evo as a "coup d'etat", starting with Cristina Fernández and Lula.

If anything happens to Evo, and Bolivia falls into the hands of the undemocratic right, I expect 2020 to be a pretty rough year for Bolivia's relationships in the region.
