actually, De Soto is barely ahead of Fujimori in second place. Not much better but at least it isn't Communist vs Fujimorist, and instead Communist vs Neolib

Nope, Fujimori's pulled ahead of de Soto again

That's a... surprising outcome. I'm not very fond of the flavor of "communism" of Castillo, too conservative on social issues for my taste, but compared to Fujimori I would definitely vote for him. But I'm afraid Fujimori will win with a massive scaremongering campaign.

After Lasso's win I have a sickening feeling about this. I'll pay attention to the polls, and pray that Castillo wins. Looking back at the other elections Keiko participated, she tends to barely lose (she lost by 50,000 votes in 2019). Hopefully the same happens again. One good thing is that she has a good track record conceding, as she conceded 5 days after the results were announced.

He's almost 90, it's probably for the best that he steps down and lets someone a bit younger take over soon.

Brazil's Supreme Court confirms decision to annul Lula convictions

Final confirmation that Judge Moro crusade against PT and Lula was totally unfair and politically motivated. Lula will be able to candidate in the next election and likely won it. Glad he's finally free, but really raging to see how this mockery of justice allowed Bolsanora to become president, with all the disastrous consequences for Brazilian and the world as a large (since he converted Brazil into a gigantic Covid variants factory).

About time tbh, he's super old. Hopefully his replacement is under 40 years old.

Woohoo! Lula for 2022! I credit him and his cabinet for saving the Amazon rainforest, and if it survives it' entirely because of him and Marina de Silva. He also has a much better chance of beating out Bolsonaro.

As much as I dislike Fujimori and want her to lose, you can't have her a candidate and yet restrict her movements, wouldn't be fair. I oppose lawfare when they do it on people I support (Lula in Brazil, correistas in Eucador, ...) it's not to support it when done on someone I oppose (even if there is the huge difference that Keiko Fujimori is probably guilty unlike Lula and Correa, but until the end of investigations and trial she should be considered innocent by law even if not by the voters).

Great, I think I Posted I strongly support Keiko Fujimori of Fuerza Popular, Popular Force 2011. But I strongly agree with you all Persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Alberto.

Raúl Castro Ruz of Cuba, has hand picked Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, as First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba. But nothing will change in my native Cuba, General Luis Alberto Rodríguez López-Callejas, was named to the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba, who controls Gaesa, Gaviota Corporations of the military Generals, Castro family and other persons, in charge of the tourism hotels, resorts, car rental agencies, and retail trades and the so called, the Port of Mariel Free Trade Zone, which I can post about in great details with links if I wish to do so. He is the father of 2 of Raúl Castro's grandchildren. The eternal Cuban government regime, that calls itself the continuity of the revolution, a statement that says it all and proves it all, still calls Raúl Castro, Army General Raúl Castro, this is why I have not bothered to create a Cuba thread. But I would like the honor to create the Cuba thread first, as a native Cuban who still has family in Cuba, I know the right questions to ask on the thread and Poll on both sides. I follow Cuba news almost everyday. I RP The Democratic Communist Socialist Republic of La Habana Cuba with the real life world leaders of Cuba, :) lol.

A Few excerpts of the 2 Links one from the government regime's Cuban News Agency:

Among those promoted to the politburo was Brigadier-General Luis Alberto Rodríguez López-Callejas, once married to Raúl’s daughter Deborah and head of the armed forces’civilian holding company, GAISA, which controls important swaths of the economy such as tourism and the retail trade. Rodríguez López-Callejas is close to Díaz-Canel, who has referred to him as his economic adviser, according to two European diplomats. He is also a competent businessman, according to three foreign counterparts who have worked with him.

The Cuban leader will fill the position held by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, an exponent of the historic leadership of the Cuban Revolution commanded by the historic leader, Commander in Chief, (EL Comandante EN Jefe) Fidel Castro Ruz.

Bolsonaro says military would follow his orders to "take the streets"

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro said on Friday that if he were to order the military to take the streets and restore order, “the order will be followed,” raising fresh questions about his politicization of the armed forces.

Speaking during a TV interview, Bolsonaro said he would not "go into details into what I'm preparing." But he said that "if we were to have problems, we have a plan of how to enter the field ... our armed forces could one day go into the streets."
