Not really...

its just the coincidence that all these forums seem to be covered with leftists?

IIRC there used to be a thread about this

Nah. Someone voting for things you don't like is not a reason to take away their voting rights.

It's not about things "I like". The voting pattern of 60+ people in my country consistently puts younger generations at a disadvantage, while not affecting older generations at all. They simply vote for things that doesn't even concern them.

Younger people tend to vote far less than older people though.

What does this even mean? Does "Does it though?" challenge his (true) claim that 60+ people vote in ways that put youth in between a rock and a hard place, or that the things they vote for don't concern them? Also, what does it matter that there are more people younger than sixty than older than sixty?

Yes, but not by that much, especially if you look at voting ages. Sadly though, most young people here will vote for whatever their family votes/voted for, so this will never end until they finally realize what the parties they vote for are doing. There's even been an instance at a party gathering where one politician said that anybody under the roof of his house has to vote his party, or they're not part of the family anymore. And then told the other people at the gathering to do the same.

that if younger people get out and vote it would make this argument useless

how about instead of trying to restrict freedoms. You try to inspire young people to go out there and vote... just a suggestion instead of arguing a battle you're losing

and on that cue im out :)

No, we're blaming old people for voting in policy makers (who are also old people) who make brash and divisive decisions for the country which very adversely affect the youth and future generations.

"Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times." In this case, it is Baby Boomers who enjoyed the good times created by their parents. And unfortunately, they've created hard times for the younger generations.

I'm not saying old people should lose the right to vote, but young people should gain that right and we need to develop programs to deter voter apathy among all generations.

Or you could stop making up some shit and misrepresenting it as my argument. How about it friendo? If the only way you can win an argument is by misrepresenting an opponent's statements then that speaks volumes...

Case in point: Restricting people's votes is a middle finger to democracy. Just because old people don't vote the way you'd like them to doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to vote. What's next, "The Right shouldn't be allowed to vote because they vote in a way that harms leftist ideals."

Has everyone gone mad? People in this forum saying they vote on things that "don't apply to them" are seriously insisting they shouldn't be able to vote at ALL because of it.

Please tell me everyone that's saying that old people shouldn't vote is just trolling and doesn't actually believe in restricting the vote just so they can get the limited democracy they want.

What if the roles were reversed? I don't see anyone with a sane mind saying they voting age should be increased to 30.
Luxembourg's luck has finally turned in their favor, and the German nation has forced to concede to a collaboration government with the Luxembourgish, creating the great nation of Luxenermy. Now, that luck has extended to the German people as well. A great time for both peoples.

Anyone who pays taxes should be able to vote. The United States' main founding principle is that taxation should equal representation.

God no. When it comes to age requirements I think it's one of the things the current voting system does do right. If you're an adult, you should be able to vote. The only restriction I know of at that point is if you're in prison or not a citizen, which are their own arguments.
