It's tough, the whole tenor of the house changes. When we lost our cat back in '08, Herself wouldn't consider getting another for a year. She thought it would be like trying to replace the old one. I never saw it that way. I should have just gone and adopted one, she would have folded in an instant.

Can’t blame her. Sometimes, I find myself thinking like that. That I’m replacing Misty.

It's all about confidence. Sure I got glasses, a weird Scott Ian beard thing, no shirts without funny sayings on them and an endless supply of pithy baseball caps, but my delusional level of self confidence means I work it.

Cats, Dogs, Pets... they are all the wondrous beings, aren't they? They make us happy, they fill your life with joy, they purr on your lap. But unfortunately, they have a lifespan shorter than us... for the most parts.

I hope I didn't make this melancholic. My intention is that like Farn said, no two pets are alike and they will give you a memory of their own. They will not think that you have replaced them. Rather, they have that limited lifespan to make you happy, they accomplished that, and they have gladly passed this task of making a person happy to the next cat/dog/pet that you adopt.

"My work here is done, my lovely owner. I have the most joy and happiness with you, and I hope that you will feel the same. My time has come, and I am sorry to make you sad. But take heart, that I will be in the Pet Heaven above, and I will gladly and happily see that you have another pet to carry over the cycle of bringing peace to you. Thank you for taking care of me."

Such.. is the joys of a pet, of our lovely companions. Pet memories are not replaced; they are carried over to the successor and your heart is never too small for many memories. ♥

In other news, I've just realized that I've had no meals today, and no food at all, really. I should probably eat something, huh?
