You would know trump got a hold of the death note if tomorrow every news reporter except at breitbart and maybe fox, and every politician except republicans who support trump (so not mitt Romney because he dared to against the emperor) along with a majority of western European leaders and Justin Trudeau died en masse from suicide. I can imagine it would look like the movie "the happening" or "birdbox" outside my window as trump continues to kill millions of people by writing their names down in the death note.

Also I'm sure entire cities such as New York and San Francisco would be wiped out, and by day 1 ABB (after bing bong, because trump used these words to convey everything from texting to killing people to using people as puppets), much of the West and East coasts would be devoid of all life. Trump would probably then go onstage at the white house to brag about using the death note to kill at least 30% of the American population, and considering his current approval rating, he'd probably force the government to make public the votes of millions in 2016 so he could kill even more till only like 45% of the population remained

Now that I think about it, trump would probably kill a lot of his own supporters too, since I'm sure at least 5 people in Manhattan voted for him. But hey, it's not like trump really cares about them anyways since he's a narcassist, so I'm sure the death of a few hundred trumpsters in the Bing Bong (as this cataclysmic event shall be known) wouldn't keep him awake at night

It would kill the value of his properties here. Who would buy in trump tower if they had to kill themselves the next day? Say what you will about trump, at his heart he is a mediocre landlord.
