Perhaps that video was coerced. But there isn't any solid evidence that it was. That's why this case is so difficult; as James behaves radically different when in his/her/their mom's 'sphere' versus his/her/their dad's 'sphere', and virtually all evidence has in some way been influenced in part by one of the parents, there is, to me, NO clear way forward in this case. The dad's testimony about James's identifying as male while in his presence, as well as the video, were all provided by him and could thus be tainted evidence. On the other hand, though, the mom's testimony about James identifying as female while in HER presence is tainted in a similar way - very young children often behave the way their parents want them to. To a lesser degree, what's happening at school may also not be representative of James's true feelings, as the mom clearly has more gravity over his/her/their life regularly. The mom's refusal to allow a second professional evaluation is also, from my point of view, unusual. I'm not claiming here that one or both parents are somehow abusing James to force him/her/them into a desired identity, but at this juncture I believe much of the evidence, which is >90% eyewitness testimony, is warped. Because of the tug-of-war game between the parents, we can't really see what James actually thinks, and therein lies the problem.

This was years before abuse for one.

That can't be true. The twins (the boys) were born in 2012, and the court found that the father had abused the daughters in a court case in 2016.

Mental abuse is a thing. Telling a three year old boy that he is a girl and forcing him to go through with it (meaning kids, 2nd graders, are going to bully) is mental abuse.
