Would you mind if the world ended?

Does anyone on NS have a bad anxiety about the end of humanity or the end of civilization as we know it? Or do you not care less about it? As we see, there are possible war, economic, infrastructure or societal events that have a chance to nearly extinct us within even a short time (not considering natural events, just man-made) or otherwise imposes dystopian or unpleasant conditions on our living. It looks like the arm of the law is getting a little bigger every day and countries are becoming more police state-ish combined with more terrorist incidents and the means to hurt a wider amount of people with it (like radical Islamic terror in the West). What else I find upset about it is that some of this at least could have been averted if us and our ancestors of the past made better decisions.

What does NS think about this? How nerved does some stuff in the world going more to shit make you feel? We can discuss this. It can also serve as a thread for encouraging and helping others who feel some things.

As long as I can be free when the world ends, no.

Considering how my nation's ideals and my IRL ideals are dedicated to preventing the apocalypse by any means necessary... Yes, very much so.

As far as I know, it’s not ending anytime soon, so…

Everybody waiting for global warming to kill us, but I ain't no bitch.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm gonna go wake cthulhu up. I got an alarm clock and if that doesn't work I have a trumpet. We're about to get things lit

Given how the only thing that would actually get it done is the second coming of Christ, I don't think so...

Okay, the chance of literally all of humanity going extinct is extremely low. The chance of the world ceasing to exist, even lower.

In all seriousness, I think it would be the only way I could be free, happy, and grow. This world has become so stifled and toxic that I think we need a decent reset, if only to break the grip of those that would make things steadily worse.

When I think of a good future, it always resembles a sort of "soft apocalypse" setting. The sort of world presented in stories like Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō come to mind.

The answer depends on how much I've drunk before the end.

The party to welcome the Old Ones.

As for the OP, well.....I don't have an anxiety about the end of the world. If that happens probably I've already dead anyway, but that doesn't mean that we should stop from doing everything to make the world a better place for everyone.

Our modern term end of the world basically means the end of our current world order. The apocalypse could happen without an extinction of our kind. Will humanity survive to 2100? Almost certainly. Will earth be here? Definitely unless an asteroid big enough to blow us up manages to blindside us. Will the current present day nation states still be here? Many probably won't be

It depends on who survives and what the aftermath is.

If the world ends and no human survives, I'll be fine, as long as the rest of nature gets to carry on like normal.

If the entire planet ends and everything dies, then I'd be a little concerned and prefer that nature be saved.

But all in all, I want to see how people react to it, it'll be hilarious.

The world ending would basically be like if all of earth disintegrated to the living standard of the congo

The opinion that the world is the worst off it has ever been shows the disconnect people have with history
