My suspicion is that, if it's supposed to be distracting us from anything, it'll be from the fact that Boris Johnson and Dominic Raab have backed America over war with Iran. Though they have stopped short of directly saying they would join the USA in any such war, the US president has said that if the UK didn't, he would ensure we got a worse trade deal as a result.
So the UKs military is being held ransom for a trade deal?
What happened to sovereignty, taking the country back, etc.?
Did the EU ever ask the UK to spill the blood of its sons and daughters in a far away country?
No, you see, handing our foreign and domestic policy over to Washington and its whims which we have no say over is totally OK but how dare people say we be part of a democratic union in Brussels that we do get a say in the running of.
